Well, i've heard it said that sometimes, when a dream character appears slightly differently than they do in real life, it's usually because the dream character is playing out some element of ourselves that we were unaware of...I think it's based on Jungian Theory somewhere, but i'm not sure where.
For example: If you meet a dream character, and in real life they are really placid say. But in the dream, they are angry, ranting and raving, shouting and throwing things.
Maybe, if you have another dream where your dream characters are acting 'abnormally' ask yourself if you have an element of what that character is displaying in your waking life. Then, if you find that maybe you do, maybe ask yourself how does it affect you? Is it positive, or negative?
I've found this happening to me quite a lot in my dreams, and often its a negative thing. That's not to say it's bad. But in being able to interpret it, it allows me to improve myself in waking life, through my dreams.
I hope i haven't confused you now!
let me know if you have any more questions
