Can anyone help shed some light?

I'm not sure what this is called or if it has a name, which is why I'm asking. I often will wake up after a dream, well not entirely wake up. It'll feel like I'm completely awake mind and body on my bed. I don't move my body, but I don't think that's due to sleep paralysis I feel I could move it if I wanted to. It usually happens after I have a dream I find really interesting. So, I close my eyes again (still awake mind & body) wanting to go back into said dream. Anyway, when my eyes are closed I'm trying to imagine the dream as much as I can which I know this technique has a name. after around what feels like 20-30 seconds of trying to remember it, it feels like my mind goes into autopilot and it feels like I'm back in the dream. By that, I mean that I'm not simply imagining the dream anymore it's like its taking shape on its own and I have no control over it (keep in mind i still think I'm awake in my bed with my eyes closed and choosing not to move my body) but yeah, it's like information is flowing into my brain about the dreams continuation, no visuals or anything like reality just dialogue. Does anyone know what this is, if so could someone clue me in on what it is I've been experiencing?

Sounds like you're describing a DEILD.

This technique takes advantage of the fact that as you awaken from a dream the brain remains in dream mode for a few moments, provided you don't move. Since your brain is still using REM waves, you can easily slip back into a dream without having to trick your body into falling asleep. However, if you are at the end of a REM phase you won't be able to DEILD. If you do this technique right you are almost guaranteed a successful LD.

Love this thread, how people do commonly known techniques without even realising.
Keep it awesome, you are lucky to have such a natural ability!
