      Waking Life!!!

Ever since i was young (lets say 3-5 or as early as i can remember) i remember having repeating nightmares and i would make myself wake up by letting the creatures kill me. This is where my LD's started. Ever since then i would try recognize that i was dreaming so i could do anything i wanted! Fly, jump from cliffs, use 'Matrix' type actions. I thought thats was normal and everyone did it so i didnt discuss it with my friends until one stoner sunday me and my mates sat down and watched "Waking Life". now if you are interested in LD's then you HAVE to watch this movie. Take my word for it...just watch it! Itl help you with your LDs too. After watching this we got talking about LDs and i was horribly suprised to hear that none of my mates had had an LD!!! Since then i have been researching LDs and hav become very interested in them but dont seem to remember enough dreams per night.
I hate it when your halfway through a wikid dream and you wake up. i am yet to try 'spinning' and when i try it i will post more topics.
Anyone got any advice to increase the amount of dreams i have?
What are your comments on "Waking Life"?

Sounds like you have a good basis for lucidity. I've yet to claim mine, but I'm still trying.

      Welcome to the forums.

I'll have to try and uncover that movie, then.

I used to do the same thing when I was really young, except instead of letting whatever was chasing me or hurting me kill me I'd find something high to throw myself off because I just innately knew that falling would end the dream. If I couldn't find anything, I'd just order one of the monsters in my dream to throw me at something solid....

Unfortunately, when I started getting stressed at the beginning of High School I stopped having LDs. Hence my presence here....trying to get back into it.

      Dear Placid Dreams,

Yes, I know that a lot of people swear by spinning as a technique for prolonging dreaming, but it also seems to constantly change dream scene... erratically. I've found that simply by increasing the rate of breathing, and by deepening the breathing somewhat, the duration of dreaming, and the Conscious Energy which gives vividedness to a dream increases significantly. And the extra breathing effort does not have to be all that extreme -- just slightly faster and slightly deeper than usual does the job just fine.

Waking life is such an awesome film! I loved it, I downloaded it so I can watch it sometimes, cuz just watching it for a while gets me all excited about having LDs and doesnt let me take my mind off of it, lol

Anyway, I have two more techniques for ya. Well, usually the LD ends when you seriously start losing your clairity or the dreams vividness, so theres two things you can do. 1. Rub your hands together. For some reason, the feeling of friction or motion makes the dream more vivid and therefor, more clear, so you dont wake up prematurely. I've used this tech and works just fine and like Leo Volont said, its much better, since it doesn't change your dream scenes erratically. 2. Shout orders. Yeah, I read this recently and I still have to try it. If your dream doesnt seem clear shot "Clairity now!" or if it doesnt seem vivid enough, shout "Vividness, now!" or you have just lost your visuals (which usually comes inmediately before you wake up) shout "Visuals, now!". I read you really have to mean it when you shout it for it to work.

Since I didnt notice (I didnt read every reply throughout but anyways) anyone saying anything about this I'll share my thing.
I dont think you can "increase" the amount of dreams you have. Like, people say they don't dream, thats not true at all... They just dont remember it. Thats your "goal".
I usually just when going to bed say to myself "Ok, ill remember dreams" and if I wake up without remembering any I slap my left arm a few times (the "meaty" part below your elbow) of course you can choose which part you want to use. It helps if it hurts a little too, just enough to think "man I really gotta remember those dreams". (Thanks goes to Leo for this technique)

People are gonna say/might say that "you shouldnt punish yourself, instead, reward yourself for remembering" but it has helped me thats for sure. Its your own choice.
I didnt use to remember any dreams and then after finding out that everybody dreams, they just dont remember it I started remembering one every week. Now I remember at least one a night almost...

I remember like two every night and on weekends and/or vacations I remember like 4 every night, but thats cuz I wake up many times in the night, like for instance, before I go to bed I drink a lotta water, that way I wake up to go pee in the night and I also set my alarm clock to sound about 6 hours after I go to sleep and then after I wake up, I set to go off every hour, so, if I sleep like say 10 hours, I remember at least 4 dreams. U should try that if u wanna remember more dreams and you really dont end up sleeping any less, u just wake up more often in between, so its the same thing

I had the best sleep last nite. Didnt fulli wake up once but i remember a good 2minutes of 3 of my dreams!!!! This may b due to this BrainWave Generator i downloaded. You guys hav to try it coz it seemed to hav worked for me and last night was the first night i tried it! The only thing is i didnt click onto any dream signs so i just went with the dream without making it very interesting with using LD.
I dnt like the idea of waking up and hitting myself. I dont really see how that could work but i find that telling yourself that u r goin 2 remember your dreams works pritty well. Yea i can see how spinning would be annoying because you usually dont want your dream location to change, but if u did it would be handy. The idea of yelling wat you want out loud is very intriguing. If it works as well as you say it does then i cant wait to try it. The ideas are endless!!!!
So check out this BrainWave generator and get back to me

ill post intructions for lucid dreams using the generator soon.

      1. Start up the BWGen.

      2. Click Presets | New Preset

This will bring up all the options and customizable features for your pattern.

      3. Name your pattern

      4. In the length input box you should make it about how long you sleep. I sleep about 10 hours so I put in 600.

      5. Now click on the sound tab.

      6. In the binaural beat frequency portion, take the second white box and move it to 3Hz and the time should be about how long it takes you to fall asleep. It takes me 15 minutes to fall asleep so I got it as close to 15 as it will go.

      7. Move your end box to 3Hz since this is where you want it to end also.

      8. Now we need to make some checkpoints along the way to raise your consciousness. Right click somewhere in the binaural beat frequency box and click Insert New Node.

      9. Move the node to 90 minutes after your second node.

      10. Create a new node as you did in step 8.

      11. Move this node about 5 minutes after the node you made in step 9, and move it up to 10Hz.

      12. Create another node and move it 5 minutes after your previous node and put it at 3Hz.

      13. Repeat this process until you fill up your entire pattern is filled up.

      14. Listen too it and hope you have a lucid dream. This also works very well if you do MILD with it.
