I think it's takes a little practice to attain more control like that, I wouldn't rush things |

Usually when I have a lucid dream, I forget to try to fly. Well I got lucid last night and I somehow remembered. I was at the top of a hill. I took a running start and jumped off with my arms and legs out. I glided to the bottom and scratched my belly lol. I glided on flat land too. I tried jumping straight up and I did my best to imagine and feel it but I couldn't. I ended up running around my neighborhood looking like I was pretending to be an airplane. I was even desperate enough to ask random DC's how to. They obviously didnt know. I experimented with my ability to make things happen. I made Britney spears appear behind me but I couldn't make an apple appear in my hand. Wtf. Also, I lost more control as my dream became more vivid. Help would be nice. |

For me, flying is a lot like swimming. I don't have wings, and I don't need a running jump or a start from altitude or anything. Sometimes I need a little help to gain altitude though, like pulling myself up using tree boughs or jumping up onto a roof and springing from there. Mostly I fly at low altitude, and usually not very fast, although I'm conscious that I'm capable of astonishing speed. |

For starters, never try to take a running start. Don't apply so much effort. That starts your mind out thinking that you will need to work hard in order to do this, and that leaves room for the doubtful question to pop into your mind, "Am I putting in enough effort?". That's where things to south. The only way that you'll reach the goal that you want, is to keep in mind that effort has nothing to do with goal achieving in dreams. It's all about understanding that you can have anything, if you don't hold on to why it shouldn't be possible. Your whole waking life, you've been a slave to the physics of gravity. In your mind, you're still a slave to gravity. But remind yourself... gravity and force, do not have any meaning in your dream unless you allow it. Good luck! I hope this concept helps in your dream control all around. |

We may guess that in dreams life, matter, and vitality, as the earth knows such things, are not necessarily constant; and that time and space do not exist as our waking selves comprehend them. Sometimes I believe that this less material life is our truer life, and that our vain presence on the terraqueous globe is itself the secondary or merely virtual phenomenon." H.P. Lovecraft

Good advice Nerq. That's worth keeping in mind for any dream activity. I certainly find that those things which work in my dreams are things which I just know I can do, and therefore don't need to work at. |

Flying can be very difficult to learn for some, I myself fell into this category. When I first attempted to fly I couldn't even get off the ground, I tried and tried yet nothing happened. I eventually learned that flying, along with everything else in your dreams, needs to be mentally conquered. What I mean is, if you believe you can fly, you will fly. Believe in yourself, imagine yourself in the air, the gusts flowing through your hair. When you do make it into the air, flap your arms, put them out in front of you, do whatever it takes to reassure yourself that you are in control. When you have control of your dream you can do anything. |
