What should I do with SP?

I randomly get bursts of frequent sleep paralysis (about 7 - 14 days), usually in the morning when I "wake up".

It has recently started happening again though it is abit more scary, I "wake up" in total darkness (this occurs in the morning when my room is actually bright). I am usually "frozen" for what seems forever and it actually really terrifies me. It is most scary because I am in a "void" of total blackness.

The one that happened this morning was especially scary, this has also happened once before. I woke up in SP and in darkness, I realized that I was in SP too. It was wierd because I was not able to move and felt like I was awake but I was still half dreaming. I think at this point I went back into dream world because I was trying really hard to move and I finally did and I left my bed. Though I never saw myself I was under the impression that I was an old man. The scariest part was that my vision was blurred and I could barely see anything and I was stumbling around my house (it sounds not scary but it was because I could barely see anything except blurs).

I know it is easy to astral project and lucid dream under SP but for some reason it never occurs to me. The second I snap out of SP and wake up I always think "Why didn't I try to AP/LD".

Is there any techniques I can use to somehow benefit from this awful SP? Would saying mantras before bed help me remember to try to LD when in SP?

Mantras would probably help, but what you really need to do is try to keep calm. I feel that's the reason you aren't remembering to do anything you know. So if you just keep calm when you're in SP (not always easy) then you should find it easier.

First of all i agree with samuraixkyle, you should calm yourself or non of your attempts to LD won't work, after you are calm you should do RC and then LD, if your vision become blurry and you think you are going to wake up take a good and long look on your hands till you feel that your dream stops to fall apart and then try to LD.
i hope my advice will be any help. update me about the results.

You could try mantra as suggested to get the idea in your head. Something like "when SP, do AP". Read up on AP/OBE techniques and practice them during day. I know there is lots of techniques and in general, you should give each of them a couple second long try, if that one doesn't work, move to another one. So memorize them and practice so when SP hits you, you do it automatically, without much thinking. Hope this helps
