A Long One, but a Good One

This post will be long. I will try to keep it as short as possible but I want to share my incredible experience (this should be a pretty interesting read) with all of you, as well as get some feedback and any suggestions anyone can provide.

Last night was the most intense night I've had while experimenting with lucid dreaming. I recalled 4 different dreams last night. This is a new record for me. Two dreams were non lucid, one dream was lucid, and one was a false awakening.

I set my alarm last night with the intention of WBTB.

My first dream was a zombie dream. I seem to have these at least once a month. nothing out of the ordinary. The second dream was the one that was interesting to me. I was at work talking to a coworker. Then a friend who I have not spoken to in a couple of years came up and joined the conversation. After the conversation, he handed me two pills. He told me they would help me with my lucid dreaming. I immediately swallowed the pills with a class of water. After I felt the pills hit the bottom of my stomach, I woke up. I looked at my clock and it was exactly five minutes before my alarm was set to go off for my WBTB. I wrote my dreams down in my DJ, got up to go to the bathroom, and read for about 20 minutes before going back to sleep. When I closed my eyes, I started counting and repeating a phrase: "1, 2, 3, When I see something strange, I am dreaming." Lately I have been doing reality checks every time I enter a new setting (different room, building, walk outside, or even change in the weather). I also do a reality check anytime I see that a consistent thing in my life has changed (rearranged furniture, someone I know gets a new haircut, etc.) or I see something that I think is strange (someone talking to me isn't making sense, electronics malfunctioning, etc.). The reality checks seem to be working. Once I was in the dream, I realized I was dreaming in what seemed like seconds. The first thing I noticed was that there was snow on the ground. However, I wasn't cold at all. I knew then that it was a dream. I won't waste your time with a detailed description of the dream but it was basically me defending a woman in a house on a hill from mountain lions with my bare hands. I was able to hit the mountain lions in the nose with by palm and they would die instantly. After fighting mountain lions for what seemed like an entire day, the I went inside the womans house and woke up... or so I thought.

I was in my bed excited to reach for my DJ when I realized I couldnt get out of bed. At first I thought I was experiencing SP, but then I was able to move my arms and legs and was still unable to move out of bed. It felt like I was strapped to my mattress at the waist. Then I noticed these small purple dots with tails swimming around above me. It was still dark outside when I looked out the window. I blinked, and it was light outside and the dots disappeared. I did a reality check to make sure that I actually woke up this time and got ready for work.

I really like the WBTB technique. So far it is what has been the most successful for me. Does anyone have any tips on WBTB? Or can anyone share what they do before they go back to bed?

Also, please share your experiences with false awakening as this was my first. Can you ever control those or do you always wake up from those once you realize it isnt real?

      Thanks to all readers!!!!

Congratulations on your lucids! Sounds like you had an amazing night.

WBTB - after I go to bed after WBTB, and I'm going for a WILD, I concentrate on looking at the "fog" thats swirling behind my closed eyelids. I wait for it to form into a dream. When I'm going for a DILD, I just whisper my mantra untill I get sleepy and then just repeat it in my mind untill I fall asleep.

FA - is just another way of getting lucid. Something strikes you as strange, or you realize you are dreaming, do reality check and you are lucid. I didn't think I had FAs, untill I told myself that when I wake up and see my room, I'm in FA and should do RC. That's how I recognized my first FA. Do RC everytime you get up from a bed and pretty soon you will do RCs in your FAs. Happy dreams

Hey Chung! You're doing really great progress! And gab is right. Do RCs whenever you get up from a bed, or basically just do RCs everytime you wake up. It's how I am able to catch most of my false awakenings.

Hmmm when I WBTB, I personally stay up for at least an hour. I have no idea why this works for me. It took me a long time to figure this out because I just always stayed up for a few minutes, and they never helped me get lucid. I suggest experimenting with different durations of staying up until you figure out something that really clicks with you. Then once you have that, you'll have a safety net and something to come back to when all else fails When I WBTB, I usually walk around, read my DJ especially the lucid entries for motivation. Then I go back to sleep doing my mantras.

      Congrats! And see you around

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
