      My experience as a beginner

      Hello everybody.

First of all, as a new member, i'd like to introduce myself. My name is Martin and i'm from Estonia. I'm 21 years old. And that's actually everything i've got on my mind right now, cause i really want to get on the subject of my first lucid dream that happened this night.

I'd like to talk a bit about my lucid past. I've been on this subject for many years now. I learned about it about 7 years ago from a friend. But i started with it about a year ago. Maybe even less. I don't really use any techniques other than just thinking about it just before i go to sleep and having a dreamsign. But this is all going to change from now.

The night before today i had my first lucid dream. I didn't even think about it before going to bed, it just happened. Because of my dreamsign. My dreamsign is actually quite unpleasent. But it does the job as i found out. Before i had done my dreamsign, my dream was more like a nightmare. When i was in mid of my dream i did the dreamsign and suddenly (i don't even know how to explain it) i realised that i was in a dream. And immediately i rose from the floor and i started hoovering. It was more like a feeling that i'm leaving my body (in the dream) but there was no body under me. I gathered all my willpower and i was able to land again. And i noticed that all the persons around me, they froze. Or crashed or something. And when i wanted them to continue, they did. I had 100% sertenty and confidence that i was in a dream. My head was really clear. Suddenly i found myself in control of my dreams. But the control wasn't full. I one case that is. There was a lady who wasn't being nice to me in the dream. But i got in control of her by shouting at her to leave. And i found myself in another situation.

There were many many more things that i did and what happened. Some of which i'm having hard time remembering fully. But what i can say is that for a 1st time, it lasted quite long. I'd say about 15+ minutes. There was a moment when i almost woke up. I believe that i even opened my eyes for a second. But my mind knew exactly what was happening and what had happened and i forced myself into the dream again.

Today in the morning and even at work driving around the city i found myself doing my dreamsign many many times cause the dream was just so clear and vivid and in my mind i think i really had some doubts that i might still be in a dream.

Before starting this thread i had so many things in my mind what i wanted to write about. But the thoughts have left me

I have a question though. Is it possible to change a dreamsign?

      That's it for now

PS: by dream sign i mean reality check

Are you talking about Reality Checks? :] (trying to breath through a plugged nose... staring at your hands...)
What do you use to check if its a dream? and why is it unpleasant? D:

Yeah, i was thinking about reality checks. I once read that you shouldn't give out your reality check.

But i can tell you that, it's unpleasent because something on my body breaks or more like shreds into pieces. It's not a pleasent feeling, even in the dream. It gives me discomfort.

The nose plug is my only rc I use and whoever came up with it, God bless you! I dont recall it being in LaBerges book, my classic intro and 'bible', but one great enhancement for sure. I LDed twice last night and only because something was just weird enough for me to try it, although I was 'sure' I was awake... surprise, surprise!

Is it hard to get yourself use to a new RC or is it just a case of remembering?

So, last night i almost LD again. My RC happened in my dream again. And i found out an interesting fact - my mother seems to be always there when it happens. But i doubted myself. I asked if i was dreaming and the answer in my head was "no". It just seemed so real. The RC was a bit different, though involved the same subject. When i went to sleep i was well minded about me having a LD again as the last time so i guess this plays a part in it also.

Even though i didn't get to LD, I'm still happy that I'm having progress and that I am asking questions in my dream that I've never asked myself before.

The dream itself involved me being in a summer training camp like i use to be when i went to high school. We were running in the woods and suddenly the atmosphere changed - i found myself actually working in the woods. Then my stepfather and mother appeared in the dream (still i was in the woods and there were alot of different people). Then it all turned into a nightmare (though really calm one). And suddenly my RC happened. And the rest is there in the beginning.
