want to learn how to lucid dream. help

ok so in the past i had my first lucid dream about 2 months ago. i realized i was dreaming because my room was actually my laundry room. from there i went outside and began to fly all over. about a month later i had another lucid dream, this one strangely different. i dont remember how i realized i was dreaming but in the previous lucid dream all i did was think fly and i flew. this time i was in my street and as i thought "fly" nothing happened. not knowing what to do i began running down the street flapping my arms like a bird. it worked, but i flew in a j shape upwards and then began to fall. getting too excited i woke myself up.

i know many of you may say why do u need help u r successful in achieving lucidity, but i want more control like being able to achieve lucidity when i want. its frustrating because i started researching and practicing lucid dreaming about a year ago and i was persistent in my practice for about 2 months with no success. then 2 months ago after giving up practicing lucidity for quite awhile i had my first lucid dream. im beginning to think i may have no control of when i can go lucid. i also have extremely vivid dreams every night and in some cases i know im dreaming but i dont do anything about it.(many people do but i dont consider lucid dreaming just being aware of dreaming, i believe u must take action in ur dream to be lucid) any advice on what i can do to have more frequent lucid dreams?

      Hello there

First of all, are you still keeping a dream journal? That can be a very helpful tool to help you recall more dreams, identify dream signs (which can help make you lucid), and it's also fun to reread your dreams in general.

Second, are you working on a particular induction technique? You didn't mention anything about it, so I wasn't sure if you were. Practicing induction techniques increases your chances of lucidity, since you are actively doing something to achieve it, rather than hoping to get lucid sometime when you sleep.

Lastly, I suggest working on awareness, as it greatly helps with putting you in the lucid mindset.

      Check these out:

      All Day Awareness

      Hope this helps, good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Welcome to Dreamviews zakelmo07!

First of all read this beginner's guide to lucid dreaming. I know you are not exactly a beginner, but is still a good thing to read. So you want to be lucid whenever you want? Well, that takes some practice and dedication. More than just two months. It takes people different amounts of time to achieve lucidity. Some people get lucid within a month, others it takes longer. It takes even longer to get lucid whenever you want. That can take years.

The first step is just remembering your dreams. It sounds like you already have that down since you said you have vivid dreams every night. That's good. Next, you should pick a technique to practice to help you get lucid more often. Here is a list of the techniques. Choose one and stick with it. Don't switch techniques every week, you need to give it time to work.

If you want to get lucid literally whenever you want, WILD is a good technique. It's the only technique when you can go from being awake into a lucid dream. The WILD technique takes a little more dedication, practice, and time to work for most people. It takes even longer to build it up where you are successful into getting lucid every time you try it. You have to understand exactly what you are supposed to be doing before trying to WILD. Make sure you don't make common mistakes like trying to WILD right before bed. When you WILD you should be doing it after 4-7 hours of sleep. It can take quite a few attempts before one successful WILD. If you get frustrated easily, WILD probably isn't a good technique for you.

If you work on a technique long enough, you can eventually get lucid every night. It just takes practice! You should take your time and understand each technique before you choose one. Read my guide: http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/find-o...ht-you-124232/. It might help you.

Also, being lucid is being aware while in a dream. Not dream control. That is the definition of lucid dreaming. You can have dream control and still not be lucid. You only have to be aware that your dreaming to be lucid. Dream control comes with time. It is mainly about being confident and believing you can do something. There are a few dream control tutorial around the site. Check the wiki and the forums. Here is a guide I wrote on how to fly maybe it will help sometime in the future!

Anyway, just be motivated and practice! It can take some time to master but stick with it! It's worth it. Also try auto suggestions, might help you get more lucids! Best of luck! If you have questions, just ask!
