      Strange awareness during dreams

      Hey friends,
So a couple nights ago I woke up from a couple of strange dreams. In both I questioned whether I was dreaming or not, and in one I even did a reality check by checking my hands and they looked normal. Could anyone shed some light on this?

      Thanks

      Hi Captain,

Yes! It's an easy mistake to make. When you do a reality check (like looking at your hands) you have to expect them to be strange and look off! If you just look at your hands and don't think anything of it then that's how it will be in your dream. Actually expect your hands to be deformed every time you do a RC. Then after take a look around you and asked anything is off. Ask how you got where you are.

Don't just make reality checks a habit you don't think about when your doing it. Take your time, and look around you. Good luck!

Sometimes in a dream, even if they look different to how they would in reality you may perceive what you are seeing to be normal and acceptable. Even if you have 8 fingers on one of your hands. You have to try and train yourself to be aware in order to recognize that you are dreaming when you do a reality check and really think about the world around you, otherwise they are meaningless and may not work.

Simple RC's don't always work by themselves. Make sure you are fully aware of your surroundings, self, and senses. From my experiences, and from reading about others, its usually the strange feeling and not the RC itself that signals to the dreamer that they are actually dreaming.
