      Lucid Dreaming for Original Thinking

Can lucid dreaming be used to think laterally and originally about issues, by posing questions to the subconscious mind, for instance?

Technically, yes. Dreams are produced by our subconscious mind, so whenever you are talking to a dream character, you're talking to a projection created by your subconscious.

The deal is you can't expect to always receive specific insight. Many times dream characters (or the dream itself) can provide you with very confuse/unrelated responses, so the communication with them (especially if you're striking for specific topic) is not always clear (many time it isn't actually). The conscious and subconscious mind have different ways of processing information, and addressing emotional content, so in the end, it's not to be surprised if the "thinking laterally and originally about issues" might be much harder than it seems. But it does work
