Was this a dream or not

Is this a dream or not!? I supposedly woke up early from sleep and decided to fall asleep conscious, I was real tired so sleep paralysis came quite quick, but I can barely remember it, as if it were a dream, anyways it got to my knees, I soon got a LOUD buzzing noise in my ear, I waited patiently knowing what it was, but it didn't go away and I was getting uncomfortable and, well creeped out, I broke sleep paralysis and soon after that everything went black. I think I went to sleep. The weird part is that my conscious mind was saying stay awake, because I was trying hard not to dose off, and usually in a dream there is no consciousness only the subconscious, maybe my subconscious made me dream of me thinking consciously? I'm thinking I was awake, but idk, can anybody answer me?

I think you were between awake and asleep. The buzzing sound is one of the sensations you can get as you falling asleep.

But it was not SP. SP is paralysis. You can't just break out of it and it comes after you fall asleep. But it's ok, you don't need SP to lucid dream. I recommend you start with practicing for DILD type of lucid dreams. Here is a Beginner's guide. Good luck.

I agree with gab. There have been a lot of misinformation going around about sleep paralysis, I suggest reading this to help clear things out: http://www.dreamviews.com/f157/sleep...lained-136925/

As for your last question, well that is hard to distinguish. You can't really say for certain if you were consciously thinking it, or if it was part of the random thoughts your mind generated while your body drifted off. Personally, I think it was one of the latter. You know how you randomly think of some stuff, without meaning to, while falling asleep? Usually we even think "hey why did i just think that?". But I can't say for sure though, because those thoughts can be a mix of your conscious and unconscious mind.

Regardless, if it was telling you to "stay awake" then that's good! It means you're making progress incorporating lucid thoughts into your mind

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

With Hypnagogia most folks think of images. However, many people hear sounds and voices during this stage of sleep. I believe what you were experiencing was Hypnagogic Sounds. Simply Google Hypnagogia for a more detailed explanation.
