How do you stabilize if you can't spin?

I've already had this happen once. I was in a vehicle wearing a seat belt and couldn't spin. I rocked back and forth as hard as I could. Everything went white or cleared out like an etch a sketch. The setting reappeared and I went on with the dream. I was briefly lucid but the dream shifted soon after.

Too much emphasis on stabilization or not enough?

Practice being calm, collected, and immersing yourself in the dream around you, or the dream you wish to create. In normal dreams you don't wake up after 2 seconds, why would it happen in LDs?

I know that was asked to Ophelia. Hope you don't mind the extra input, just ignore if you wish. I don't get offended.

My guess would be too much emphasis. That's just me though, and I know it's different for everyone. In fact, I only tried spinning once and that actually ended it for me haha. But if spinning works for you, then keep it. If you find yourself in a situation where you can't spin, like in the car dream, then it's nice to have a back-up plan. Like BrandonBoss said, focusing on the dream world, all your senses. Maybe even trying a scene change. Just having something to focus on can calm things down and sustain lucidity.

You can make a personal list, then memorize it and repeat it to yourself before going to bed. That's how I remember the TOTMs. Although I forgot them in the last 2 lucids, so I better practive what I preach haha!
