      Life flashing before my eyes?

So I had this dream last night, quite unlike anything I've ever experienced before. It started out like a lot of my other LD's, as I was laying in bed I started to feel this vibration buzz, not constant but just like a tiny surge every 20 seconds or so. Then, I realized I could be lucid, got up, did a RC, and low and behold I was dreaming! So I went outside, and started to run in preparation of trying to fly (sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't). So as I was running I noticed music was playing. As I flew up into the air the music instantly changed into intense rock music.

So here's the weird part. As I was flying, in the distance I saw a couple of buildings. These buildings came out of the ground and started spinning and rotating. They went pretty fast, until they turned into colored squares, no longer resembling a building but just outlines of normal squares, still spinning. So as I got closer and closer to these squares (this whole experience lasted only 1 minute tops), a series of images started flashing right before my eyes. They were going so fast that I could not discern anything tangible, but rather just various landscapes and such. Most of the images were still shots, or with very little movement. But then, since I was so worried about waking up and trying to maintain this state, I ended up just waking up...

It was so crazy! Unlike any dream I've ever had before, and I can't stop wondering what it was or what it all means. It brings to mind how lots of people say they see their life flash before their eyes before they die. I think I may have come close to achieving this state once before, as I came to a point where I became so lucid that I floated right through a series of walls and bookshelves, one right after the other, and I was thinking that eventually I'd just see these super fast images if I could get going fast enough. This time though, I was completely unaware of my body. It was like I was just a consciousness floating there, being shown all these images.

What do you guys think? I'm so confused...

From what I can gather, you are confused by the fact that you became kind of paralysed during a lucid dream and was shown all kinds of weird stuff. Now, I don't know what experience you have with dreaming, but this isn't as weird as you make it out to be.
Maybe I don't really understand, but this srrms like quite an ordinary dream to me.

I am totally amazed :O You know why? Because I had the exact same experience some weeks ago!

Then I watched Thomas Campbells video where he talked about how information directly experienced might not be logical at first, and seem like random flashes.

The information can be nothing, but it can also be information you before only could dream to be possible and availabe to you.

So the next time you experience something like this again, just intend to stop at one particular image and then just allow the experience to do it's thing, don't try to control it or understand it, just experience it. And when you wake up you can write it down and see if it can be of value to you.

Maybe the squares wanted to tell you something, but they could only speak using images?

It is quite something, isn't it? Can you send me that link to the Thomas Cambell video? Sounds very interesting! I don't know if stopping the random flashes would be the best thing to do, maybe so but I always have the problem of my expectation getting in the way, and since most of my LD's get cut short and just turn into a DEILD chain, I'm always in fear of it ending too soon. Next time it happens I'm just going to try and let go as much as possible and just be taken away by the experience. If you don't mind, MasterMind, could you tell me about your experience? What did you think about it after it happened?

Maybe I was viewing different information and stimuli as fast as possible that the brain could still comprehend. Still though, I was very confused and still don't understand the meaning behind it. What would be point, besides being insanely breathtaking and interesting, that this function would be hardwired in our brains?

Hahahah yeah, those were some damn smart squares, I tell ya!

      It's hip to be square!

I am sorry I don't know the exact video, because there are so many! But I think it was mentioned in one of the "Experimental Exercises Hawaii Seminar", so if you are patient you can check those: Tom Campbell - Experiential Exercises (Hawaii) 1of13 - YouTube

But I think in summary it can be summarized like this, just think about a whole year of your life, or a month, or a week, but to make it even clearer think of a day, let's think of yesterday. An amount of information for whole day, directy experienced to you as a flash for 5 seconds. How much of it would you understand?
Probably not so much, which is why it is important to intend to put awareness on one thing, so you can focus on that.

How? You just intend yourself to do that, if you are worried of how it will go, the experience will be worried of how it will go, if you know how it will go, the experience will know how it will go, but if you don't know how you want it to go just intend to experience what ever the experience think will be best for you.
It's all about trusting the experience and yourself.

In my experience I intended to visit a friend by flying, but it was in conflict with my intention of exploring the consciousness (which I have no idea of how it would be like), as I thought of that while flying in hyper speed over a alien world, the land changed and cities began to rise out of the ground, I remember see on futuristic city and one destroyed city, like the one in the matrix where Morpheus shows Neo "the real world". I then noticed a big image of a desert like place and I intended to go there, both by thinking it and by flying straight into the image.

I then had a strange experience of visiting a deserted place with statues left behind there, and texts that I was able to re-read without it becoming distorted!
And scary messages left on the statues like "Don't let people dream, instead let them watch the corpses under the statues" and I think it was ending with "of their leaders..."

No particular meaning maybe behind this experience for me though, but it was interesting to experience. It was just cool to see that you had a similar kind of floating and image flashing experience.
