Reliving through memories can be fun, and really relieve stress but beware it can screw with your head sometimes. |

i am new to lucid dreaming and was wondering is it a bad idea to try and relive happy memories such as memories that i have had with a family member that has now passed away, the reason i ask is because i don't want to change my memories in any way and create false memories which is one of the reasons i am not interested in reliving bad memories and trying to make them better. |

I once dreamed i was remembering something that happened but it took me weeks to realize that it never even happened. I guess it would be different if you were doing it intentionally though. I wouldn't worry about it. |

I have never tried to access specific memories while dreaming, but I do sometimes have dreams that play out fragments of good memories or that are obviously inspired by good memories. I have had this happen with bad memories as well. Sometimes my mind will take a certain memory and change the narrative in some ways. That could be considered false memories I guess. Of course, when I wake up, I don't keep the false version of those memories. |
