Hi Guys!

I'm a second year film student and for my short film this year I want to explore lucid dreaming. I've had a variety of different ideas... but nothing has quite formulated into a full on film yet.

I'm wondering if anyone would like to help me brainstorm for ideas? It could be based of a personal experience or just something that you've thought up on your own.

I'm only looking for a bit of inspiration, not for anyone to completely write me a script or anything.. but i'd also be happy to credit anyone who contributes to the final product in any way. Even if it is just from sharing a personal experience

So far some of the ideas I've thought about include the following:-

1. "Lucid Love"

First of all, I was thinking of exploring the idea of someone falling in love with someone from a lucid dream. Does anyone know if this is possible or might have had this happen? This concept could be either falling in love with a figment that's been created, to even perhaps meeting a past or deceased lover in a lucid dream in order to pretend they're still with you.

2. "Escapism"

I thought it could be interesting to explore the idea of using lucid dreaming as a form of escapism, kind of like a drug. I've researched a little on this before and I know you can't literally get 'addicted' to lucid dreaming, as you only have a limited amount of REM sleep you can get, but that doesn't mean you couldn't stop caring about your life in reality because you know you can just make everything happen in your dreams instead.

3. "Lucid dreaming/Insanity"

The other theme I thought that could be interesting to explore, was the idea that what if you could no longer define the gap between reality and the dream world, therefore sending you insane. I know this has been something I've come close to at moments when frequently lucid dreaming. By no means am I saying that lucid dreaming too much will send everyone insane, but maybe in the right situation it could?

Anyone who might want to expand on these ideas, or even suggest a new idea.. It would be really appreciated!

I have a lot of different concepts in mind, but I'm unsure as to how exactly to set it up in such a small time frame, especially for people who don't know much about lucid dreaming.

Thanks everyone!
Ashley
