How does your personality and lifestyle effect your Lucid dreaming?

I belive that the way you ARE as a person, has a huge impact on HOW you get lucid in dreams and in wich technique that would work best for you.

So please cheer as much as you can about your personality, and try to figure out wich part of your personality you think has the biggest impact on your lucid dream progress. It could be a good way for every one to tell teir perspective on your personality issue or just teir own view of this world we live in.

I start by trying to explain my own personality+abilities. So lets look at the good stuff first.

+ Im a pretty calm person
      + Open-minded
      + Easy to sleep
      + Rearly stresses physically

      And the less good..

      - Sceptic
      - Often have a struggle with focusing
      - Thinking to much
      - Always thinking of the future

This is the things and issues that I think is what helps and destroy my lucid opportunities. I do meditate sometimes 20-30min before I go to sleep, and even if I feel that the meditation got bad I know I can become lucid in my dreams If I can convice my subconscious by telling it in such a clear explination I can, like "When I am asleep, I will tell myself that I am dreaming, and I will be conscious within my dream from that moment, and I will remain calm when I know im dreaming" twice when I did this and fellt that I really belived what I was saying to myself while brushing my teeth's and looking at my self in the mirror.

I then dreamt as usally with no clues that this was a dream and a lot of stuff was going on before in my dream. But then from nowhere I just calmly realized that I was dreaming and just accepted it with no specific emotions rushing within me. And I realized this even if nothing strange was happening in that moment.

My big problem now is that I do want it to be this simple to lucid dream all the time just because I know It's possible. But i think my own doubt about if it REALLY can be this easy, comes in my way in just that moment when im about to try to convice myself what to do when Im dreaming. To convice oneself is a bit like knowing that you just have to get up for a important meeting in the morning and your own mind wake you up just before the clock rings.

Yeah I was hoping to hear from other's to, so it could be some interesting discussion about what's really matter in one's personality to get lucid in dreams. But it seems that everyone is just like us I guess

Rarely stresses physically? Do you mean you don't normally stress your body out with activities like sports?

I am always teetering on the edge of too much energy expelled. Most of my hobbies are active and my work is very active. However, I do not ever stress out about things mentally. Last 3 semesters (not this one ) I was working full time and going to school full time as well, add spending time with your wife and you should have someone extremely stressed out, but I never did. I feel like stressing out is useless and a waste of my time when I could be doing something productive.

Wouldn't count the bottom ones as faults (except focusing) Unless you count "thinking too much" as "over thinking things" I am always in thought about the future, about science, about books, and other things, but I do not think it is too much, it just seems to be more than everyone else I know (except one crazy friend).

I used to have trouble focusing, but I read some books on how to focus and have trained myself to do better. This has improved productivity immensely.

I am not the most calm, but I am not the most crazy person, I am kind of at a balance. If you met me for the first time I would seem calm and collected, but if you got to know me you would see how hyper I always am, but I just bottle it up unless it is the proper time and place.

Ah, finally a good long answer! To your question on what I mean with rarely stresses physically. No, I for example used to workout 4 days a week not to long ago. So I would almost call that relaxing your body With physicall stress, I mean when you rush everything like run to the subway even if you not in hurry. Just do things hyperfast even if it's not necessary.

You seems to get a lot done during your busy days. But It also sounds like you really enjoy all the things you do? If so, I still think that you do stress a lot during you days, but in a good way! I dont belive that the good"stress" is a problem as long as you enjoy what your doing. Then it would'nt have any bad effects on your lucid dreaming either.

And about my faults that you mentioned, I agree with you that it also is good abillities to (exept the bad focus). But when it comes to lucid dreaming, I'm not so sure that those are to my advance. And I do over thinking things very to often. It's a bad baaad habit I got to work on.

I just got to comment on the thing you said, that you do not ever stress out about things mentally. ..That got to be one of the big golden rule to get lucid dreams I would say! That's what I totally need to work on.

I totally agree, I know my personality has had a big effect on both dreaming and LDs(content and maybe attainment).
So when I used to be more emotionally reactive, & aggressive, I would run away(generally) or try to kill my dc; barely ever lucid, but when I started to work on accepting my faults, I mellowed out in life and dreams, stopped reacting and started responding. I started to be able to recognize that I was dreaming, rather than react emotionally to the dream content, I just layed back and watched. I made friends with my dc, learned more about controlling my dream environment around the same time I started to take control/responsibility of my life. So rather than running away from a zombie, or getting caught up in the dream, I try to see it as a reflection of myself, same in life; try to not get caught up in the drama, etc. I mostly do DILD but would like to work on getting WILD to work. I meditate prior to bed too, I'm hoping that if I work on my mindfulness more I'll be able to get lucid more too.*crossing fingers*
