Breathing Theory + question to you

      Hello fellow dreamers,

I have this theory when you dream, that when you intentionally breathe in your lucid dream,
you wake up because your real body will do the same rythm of breathing,
when actually all techniques tell you should prevent using or even thinking of your real body when dreaming so you could concentrate on your dream body more.

I actually like jumping into water or swimming in a water world in my dreams, as the sensation of diving and still being able to breathe so good, is very nice to me.

But still, i wake up all the time and i think its me breathing that wakes me up, because i feel the air filling my lungs in my real body lying in bed on my stomach.

my question to you: Do you intentionally breathe in your dreams like consciously or do you not pay any big attention to it?

i guess its like in sleep paralysis, you dont feel the breathing, but you do it. should i just stop paying attention to breathing so much and concentrate on my dream body more?

      Regards,

I have breathed underwater before without waking up, but it's not like you need oxygen to live in a lucid dream. :p

With me, I just treat the water like air - you can fly in it, breathe in it, swim in it, and float in it just like air. I think you are getting too fixated on the breathing, like you said.

And was this in an LD or a normal dream?

Last night I did an RC where I held my nose and breathed. The breath I took was long and deep and it didn't wake me up. So I would agree postscript99. Just don't fixate on breathing best of luck in your dreaming adventures!

I have had three LDs in which right after becoming lucid I did the noseplug RC. I felt the air coming inside my lungs...of my real body. And I woke up the three times right after feeling the air coming inside. I don't know why I woke up, but since then I don't use the noseplug RC just in case xD
Sometimes I surprise myself wondering how would my character sheet be.

I'm not sure why, but every lucid dream so far starts with me underwater where I realize that I can breath, thus getting lucid. That first breath after going lucid is so life like and wonderful but it hasn't woken me up. I haven't had any long dreams yet but as soon as I finish that first breath it no longer phases me in any way.
If you're ever fed up with life, try having kids. It'll never be the same...
Plus you can do all that cool kid stuff again without looking like a creep. Bounce House, here I come!!!
