      Lucid, but not?

So I had this drean two days ago n it was really weird. First one like it for me, ill just start from the beginning:

My twin sister happened to accidentally drown my step grandma (she has Parkinson's) with my little sisyer being an accomplice. They felt remorse n guilt but they weren't going to say anything so I was going to rat them out and then my dream changes. It turns into a zombie apocalypse scene and I'm running. I run into this white tent that's on a truck. (Tent was an old fashion obe, not a new top notch one with zippers) I'm in there trying to catch my breath when I hear the voice of the drowned grandma. She sounds different and almost holy, but I picture her. Shee tells me I'm dreaming. Right then likee slenderman passes the tent and I freak. She calms me down n tells me to close the tent fold n I do and the she tells me to open them n I'm in the middle of the ocean.its vast on all sides. A dark blue ocean with a fog that glides oved the water. The water has waves in it like its a windy day. It was very beautiful and I was awestruck by the sight. I was also amazed to know I was dreaming. My grandma told me to focus on the sight of the ocean because I was starting to wake up. I had half of the sight whits and the other half the ocean with like an electric circuit dividing them. The white almost claimed me but I thought and saw a monkey and I was back in the ocean. My grandma was coaching me and giving me moral support through it all n then my alarm went off n I awoke.

The thing is I awoke feeling like it was just a dream. Can others tell u r dreaming in a dream n be considered lucid? I did think I was dreaming but I didn't have control n it was almost like it was still in the contents of the dream.

(Sorry for the mistakes I'm on my phone)

All that lucid is, is knowing that you are dreaming during a dream. Control comes with practice. Sounds like a lucid dream to me. Lucid dreams are still dreams, and the less aware you are during them the higher chance you have of them being hazy.

To me it sounds like the women in your dream who was your grandmother was really your subconscious. It was only when you and your subconscious had parted that you could become aware. It was that in losing part of yourself you gained a valuable insight. An upsetting dream but also a very deep dream. Impressive.

Interesting point of view. I don't think I agree, but it sounds very interesting. could you look through some of my DJ and tell me what you think of a few of them? I would love to hear a second opinion (other than my own)

So does this always have to happen for me to become lucid? And my subconscious, does it mean anything that it was seen as my grandma?

A lucid dream is a lucid dream as Brandon has said. Boolean. Simple. Lucidity, vividness, and control are not identical.

Agreed, however, there is a way for this not to have been a lucid dream: if your grandma told you that you are dreaming, but you did not believe her, then it would not be a lucid dream; however, if you consciously believed you were dreaming then it is a lucid dream.

I had a dream once many years ago when a dream character of mine kept telling me it was a dream, and I either did not believe it or thought that it must be his dream then (since he knows he is dreaming), right? I would not consider that a lucid dream because I think being consciously aware that it is a dream and one is the one doing the dreaming is needed for that.

Yes, sometimes things get a little complicated when "dreaming" DCs are involved. I hate them; they always steal my lucidity.
