Waking up instantly after I become lucid?

No I am not waking up from excitement or whatever! I have had plenty of lucid dreams after the past year where I have done amazing things but lately whenever, I am in the dream world, I realise I am lucid out of the blue and it is as if my subconscious does not what me to be lucid. Right after I become lucid, I fall. I fall into whatever position I am sleeping in real life. For example, if I am sleeping on my back in real life in my bed, then in the dream world I will fall on my back. If I am sleeping on my side in waking life on my bed, I will fall so that I am on my side in the dreaming world. If my hand is lying under my head in waking life in my bed, I will fall in the exact same position so that my hand is lying under my head. In the dreamworld, if I try to move my hand, then my hand is forced to go back into position. Everything turns black and I can't move at all. From anywhere between 1 second to around 30 seconds, everything is just black, not being able to move and I wake up, in the same sleeping position that I fell in the dream.

This has happened for around the last 20 lucid dreams I have had and I have recorded all of them. There have been some where I just had a normal lucid dream without this happening and what I have noticed is that this weird thing ONLY happens in places I know. For example, this will ONLY happen when I become lucid at my house, or at my school but this never happens when I become lucid at the destination that my mind has created for me that I have never seen before. I don't know if this is just a coincidence but this is so weird. The weirdest thing that is happening to me. Is this normal or something? I have no control over this. The second I become lucid, I just fall and this happens...does anyone know how I can stop this? Because most of my lucid dreams occur in places I know already..

Hrm, never heard of it, sorry.

I'm just gonna guess, that it's just a stage you going through. I have noticed, that I go through stages, when for a few weeks or I do similar things in LDs. Like the way I enter, the way my transitions are in DEILDs, then I "go to sleep" in a dream to become lucid, and such.

Maybe someone will have a better answer.

Hmm..this has been stopping me from actually doing things in my lucid dreams. Maybe this is a recurring dream..but I don't understand how the dreamworld knows what sleeping position i'm sleeping in. I haven't had a proper lucid dream in a while because of this and I can't control it as it occurs within a second I become lucid..

      Thanks for the answer

Probably a good guess, Gab, and yes, Foxy, since it is a part of you, your dreaming mind can certainly know where and in what position your sleeping body is in.

This is sort of an odd situation, but instead of seeing as a force preventing your lucidity, try dismissing it, both when it happens and when you think of it later, as just a strange hiccup in your current dream activities... make it less important to you, and it will become less important to your dreaming mind. Hopefully then it'll become a thing of the past, a forgotten stage, in no time!

Yeah haha I haven't read this happening to anyone else, I tried looking around the forums to see if this is common, but nope :l

Whenever this happens, I always try to resist the force and try as hard as I can to move but I just end up feeling weak and I wake up. Next time i'll just ignore it and let it happen. If I am trying to make it less important, should I be writing it down in my dream journal when it happens?

^^ Sounds like a plan! Yes, you should still record it in your dream journal -- every detail matters, even the (now) insignificant ones.

      Good luck!

Someone somewhere suggested, if you can't move, try to recall a sinking feeling. And then think of sinking through ground/falling to another realm/dream.

      Respectfully, xXxArtistxXx:

No this does not sound like SP at all.

Yes, there was a moment Foxy couldn't move, which was likely a mix of her witnessing of REM Atonia (which is not SP) coupled with this strange action of her dreaming mind taking her back to bed.

SP is not the cause of everything, and the very few people that do experience actual SP (rather than the fabricated stuff we see on these forums) are well aware that they experience it, usually from a young age.

Sorry if this was a bit harsh, but Foxy seems to be sincerely looking for help, and to send her down the SP path, with all the threads that carry fundamentally incorrect information, would not be very helpful. And frankly to tell someone that they might have a very serious and fairly rare disorder is extremely irresponsible.

Foxy: trust me, if you suffered from SP, you would know it.

Thanks for the tip Gab! I'll try it once it happens again. Yeah I don't think it is SP..this only happens when i'm lucid and i've never experienced SP ever in my life..why would a SP disorder pop out now out of nowhere? I think it's just a weird thing that's happening in my dreams :S Thanks everyone for all the answers, i'll see if my problem has been fixed when I get my next lucid dream!
