      Is this normal?

      Hey DV

over the past week and a bit my dream recall has sky rocketed I'm remembering at least 1-3 dreams per night.

When I remember my dreams though and while I'm writing things in my DJ some really weird things happened, but I don't seem to question any of it in my dream?

An example of this, I got a text message from my friend telling me about lucid dream methods. And in my dream I remember myself just going like, oh ok that's cool and continued on with what I was doing.

So is it normal not to notice and question strange things that happen in a dream?

Is it more of a skill that is learnt or acquired over time?

      Thanks in advance for help

The reason to why we don't become aware of those weird things while they are happening is because the aminergic system of the brain that governs CRITICAL THINKING (somehwat simplified) is lowered in it's activity.

So you can see dancing pink elephants, friend telling you about lucid dreams or even reality check without even noticing anything.

And therefore, yes it is completely normal not to notice and question strange things that happens in a dream.

Although it all begins by questioning, because then you are intending to find out if it is strange or not and thereby activating the aminergic system, and with time it will become automatic.

So just continue to practise dream recall and intend to question your experiences and you will start to notice changes.

      Good luck!

It's definitely a skill that is grown over time. I've been lucid dreaming for little over a year, and lucid dreaming topics sometimes pop up in my dreams, and I never become lucid. Dream recall will definitely help you with discerning what happens in your dreams.

      Congrats on your increased recall.

And yeah, it's totally normal to miss "obvious" things. I've been lucid dreaming for years and I still have that happen to me all the time. I talk to people regularly in my dreams about lucid dreaming without becoming lucid.

And it's funny how the oddest things will finally make you lucid. I'll always remember the dream where I was being chased by hippos, then looked down on the ground and saw snow and thought, "Hey, there is no snow in real life. I must be dreaming." Hippos didn't do it, but snow did.

But really, the more you get into it, and the more lucid experiences you have, the more likely you will question things and become lucid. But even then, for most of us we still have many many times we wake up and kick ourselves for missing something that seems obvious in retrospect

      Haha, TwoShadows!

And yes they're right. Just remember, if we noticed how weird things were all the time, we'd be lucid all night!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
