      What are DCs like?

I'm not exactly asking "What are some experiences you've had with DCs?" (although feel free to include them if they're relevant) I'm asking what I should expect from DCs when I get my first lucid. Are they mindless, or could you talk to them like real people? DO they maintain a constant form, or do they change into something else every time you look away? Do they do a lot of really weird stuff, or do they try to act like they're in the real world?
I ask because I'm a fairly... um... skittish (<-- Probably not the best possible word) person. If MissingNo. (the glitch from pokemon) was pretty unnerving to me, I can only imagine how quickly I'll snap awake if I'm having a pleasant conversation with a DC, then I look away and they suddenly turn into a pumpkin mech that's spewing cliche prophecies in the form of mariachi music or something. Soooo... yeah.... If you can do so easily, I'd like to still be surprised by my first lucid, so I don't need any, like, lists of stuff that might happen. Just so I have an idea of what to expect.

I could answer every of your questions with yes Though really, I had DCs that acted like real people, others that were mindless, some that changed appearance, and some that acted really weird. So.. expect everything and the unexpected.

For me it always or mostly depended on the environment I became lucid in or the plot of the dream, they for me at least don't change much of their behaviour after I become lucid, what I am saying, if I happened to dream of war and become lucid they don't suddenly all stop and start to dance. But it also depends much on what you expect, and how you interact with the DCs.

DC's aren't the same all the time. In non-lucids, they have free personality because you aren't lucid, but in lucids, they stop talking, maybe look scared, but if you talk to them not expecting an exact answer, they respond normally, but some are aggresive, or unresponsive. They won't transform unless you think that. Don't talk to them much, for me it either destabilizes, or stops my lucidity, but why waste time talking like a vacuum cleaner, when you could summon that garbled pixel pokemon and machine gun it. However, they can turn into something fearful. Funnily enough, for me it's my mom , it really depends on you, and what you expect.

Sooo, if I expect my DCs to to be hyperactive shapeshifters, they're likely to erratically change forms, or if I expect them to act like real people they're likely to be up for small talk, and react to things appropriately, etc., etc., etc.? Do they ever just act completely against each and every one of your expectations? Also can you will them to be a certain way, in either aesthetics or behavior? I heard somewhere that that's considered disrespectful to them and makes them more likely to be rude/rebellious/etc..

Also: Flycat, it's quite funny that for you it's your mother, because in the past I've actually had several dreams about my mom telling me she's taking my video games, then turning into a giant flying hammer and chasing me through some part of a video game =P

Haha, nah it is not that easy, but it would be more likely to happen. I mean, if you become lucid, your mind will not be occupied with thinking about how your Dream Characters will act etc. at least mine is not, at least not if I don't plan on doing something specific with DCs. But if you actively try to change something, it is likely to happen.

Don't let your mind be occupied so much about the questions, my advice would be just try stuff out.

Alright, I will. ...As soon as I can stop waking up due to and/or upon becoming lucid. =p I'm hoping I'll be able to get them to be realistic enough to be able to talk to them a little.

The edit made me laugh. Just imagine a hammer swinging madly at you while running through a mall filled with monkeys that eat pencils. Although, for me she acts crazy, like second DV entry jher eyes just popped into her skull, her skin turned all zombieish and rotting, then cloning herself, and in second to last lucid she tells me she was sorry but wanted decorations put up in her room, then after i finished (agreed to practice summoning) she thanks me by punching me, then saying "YOU SHALL BE PUNISHED!" then playing a videogame, and asking me "can you please imitate being in pain?". Just remembered, but whatever.

I have a feeling my DC's would be douche bags lol... They'll all probably ignore me or tell me to screw off.

Well from my personal experiences, DCs are the BONFG(Being of No Fucks Given). This is for my dreams anyway. But it seems to me they're that way in others' dreams as well. They can be like mindless sheep sometimes. They really like to do things to mess with you, especially when you're lucid. I can recall so many dreams where I've interacted with DCs and they've screwed me over so many times. If you want to interact with DCs, be ready for a ride. If you're an online gamer, a DC is very comparable to your teammates who don't have mics. In other words, they do stupid things like its nothing and get you in trouble a lot. My advice is like an online game, go with a friend and disregard anyone else. I've had my friends by my side a lot in dreams and they've been really useful, everyone else is like a little mindless sheep. They're quite funny, like curious newborns learning. They're very fun to troll too, but be careful! Even though you have all the power in a LD, don't be cocky with it. I've been shocked how many times I've been shut down in a snap by DCs before. Have fun LDing! Keep in touch too, I'd like to hear about your experiences!

      Fun to troll...

Now, that reminds me of 100000 ways to troll DC's.
