      Issues Triggering/Maintaining

      Alrighty, so here she goes!

This is but my second post, so i apologize for any repetitiveness and whatnot..

Now, Ive always, and i mean always, had insanely high dream recall. I almost always remember every part of my dreams. Which is pretty cool i guess, but i mostly have nightmares.. Lucidity is something ive had interest in for years, but never really seriously took a shot at it. I didnt know that i had been hitting lucidity in my dreams until reading about it as a pre-teen.

My big, and annoying, issue with it is that when I hit lucidity in my dreams, I quickly get distracted and lose it, or my brain goes into hyper logic mode, and i cant do anything with it.. other than tell off some people and walk away proud knowing its my dream and they cant do anything...

An example i can think of is flying.. I will be dreaming that i am flying, and my brain will go HEY! youre flying, this isnt logical, you must be dreaming! But right after i realize im flying, and attempt to take off again, dream me just ends up jumping in place looking foolish... I then wake up frustrated, or the dream will transition into something else..

Shooting fireballs, or energy from hands... I will be doing this, being awesome and everything, then hit lucidity, and once again am rendered unable to go pewpew from my hands anymore... and again the dream will eventually change.

I have an issue where i will very randomly go "Hey wait, im dreaming!" and all the other people in the dream will stand around telling me im silly and im not dreaming... which leaves me very flustered and annoyed. With time i either give up, or manage to convince them im right, but again, the dream will change shortly after...

I hope with time and practice and some friendly advice I will eventually be able to trigger lucidity myself, and maintain it enough to do what i want and make my dreams go how i want them.

Hi there. It is very normal to experience these things, especially if you're having your first few lucids. Keeo in mind that your dream control can vary a lot, and can be affected by how you think. I suggest the next time you get lucid, take a moment to gather yourself and perhaps even do verbal mantras telling yourself what you're gonna do. For example, if you wanna fly again, tell yourself loudly "I am gonna jump and I'm gonna fly and it's gonna be awesome." basically convince yourself, to boost your self-confidence. Hopefully the real-life hardwiring in your brain will be overrridden the more you do it, which I am pretty sure it will good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
