      A consistent sleep schedule?

So, I've been hearing around that a consistent sleep schedule is necessary to lucid dream. Is this for one particular method, or just in general? Is it even true? Is this quite possibly the thing that's been keeping me from having an LD for that 5 and a hlaf weeks?!?
Does anyone else notice how many threads I start in comparison to how many regular posts I make? No? Yes?

Consistency is not absolutely necessary, but it definitely helps a lot. Just make sure you don't go to bed too tired, and you should be just fine. If you go to sleep too tired your recall will drop, and your awareness will as well.

I would recommend that you do get yourself into a consistent and regular sleeping pattern though, because it can work wonders.

What realdealmagic said, consistent schedule isn't necessary, i"ve gotten some lucids even when my schedule went haywire, but having it stable really helps, less tiredness, better recall, awareness and stable and reliable times for WBTB and naps if you are using them, so i definitely recommend stabilizing it if possible!

I have had a consistent sleep schedule off and on, I used to not be able to LD at all when on a bad schedule, but now I can, but it takes down my consistency like crazy.

I think realdealmagic is right on...awareness drops if too tired and LDs much less likely, but not impossible. Spontaneous awareness occurs for me if well rested. Strong Dream signs are needed if I am more tired.

I feel like it doesn't help that's for sure because I stay up a lot of nights and recall less dreams when I do

Normally sleep from the previous 3 days effects recall more than how you sleep that 1 night.

The side effect of consistency is that it helps you to build and reinforce good habits and motivation. It's like with studying, eating or exercising. Creating a routine makes it easier to maintain the program so you don't give up, get lazy or sloppy.

I guess it all depends on whether you're used to it or not. If you normally sleep consistently, and you suddenly throw your sleeping schedule off, it most likely will affect the way you dream. If you usually have inconsistent sleep and just sleep whenever, you can lucid dream fine just like that. I have Non-24 disorder (basically my circadian rhythm think there's more than 24 hours in a day, so I go sleep later and wake up later each day around the clock) and I lucid dream just fine.

As long as you go to sleep when your body wants sleep, and wake up when your body wants to wake up, your dreaming shouldn't be hindered.

Never go to sleep tired. Good point. Consistency is really a big thing, but only if you are consistently not tired.

So, uh... Is there, like, a good amount of tired to go to sleep with? I mean like, if I fall asleep without really being tired, I notice that I can't remember a damn thing about dreaming, but that if I go to sleep super exhausted, I usually get woken up by my parents at a bad point in my sleep cycle, and even if I don't, I still feel groggy and don't remember anything.

So, basically, I guess I'm asking something along the lines of, "How much tired is too much tired?"

I think that the easiest way to remember dreams at first is to wake up at intervals that you should be in REM at. If you wake up straight during a vivid dream, your chances to remember it skyrocket.
