      When you were young..

Is it just me, or did anyone else tend to have lucid dreams a lot as a kid?

Over the years I've kind of forgotten about dreaming all together, my recall is terrible. I can still remember though, when I was in primary school, dreams where for some reason I realised I was in a dream...and attempted to do things I wouldn't/couldn't usually do. One of the things I noticed straight away was my inability to stay in the dream once I realised what was going on (I just figured that was normal, 'hey, i'm in a dream, I better hurry and do something because its going to end soon'), I also had trouble controlling parts of it...nevertheless I still remember making myself fly, turning myself into animals by yelling out their names (which worked maybe twice) and stuff. Anyway, I never really thought much of it back then, but now I wish I could still become lucid and recall my dreams that well today. Finding this forum kind of awoke my desire for dreaming like I used to, and I notice a lot of techniques that I figured out by myself as a kid mentioned here (voice commands...umm...thats about it).

Anyway, i'd just like to know other peoples experiences, because contrary to what I used to believe...I dont think all my friends were having similar dreams at the time.

Also thanks for making such a great site! I cant keep my mind off dreaming now...

Yep, as a kid I had much more LD power than I have today. For example I could easily recognize the start of a dream, but I dont remember what happened after that.

I'm not sure, but I might've shared dreams with my sister or some other entity, until certain point when we had a conflict and it stopped...

I don't know that I recognized them for what they were when I was a child.

One of my ex's said he used to LD all the time when he was a kid and said, in his words, "I would fly like Peter Pan and then eat as much ice cream as I wanted!"

Im very similar to you boxpilot, when i was small I remember having lucid dreams, but not very strongly. I always knew I was in a dream (and mostly still can) but the only control I had over them was that if I ever didnt like the dream, i would put my hands together and would wake up. I have however lost that talent which is very annoying!

I probably had a couple lucid dreams that I just can't remember. The first I can remember happened when I was about 10 or 11. I know that I had a LOT of false awakenings and sleep paralysis when I was a kid though, at least a couple nights a week. I didn't quite know what to make out of those. Now I welcome them with open arms.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

I had them almost every night when i was younger...Now i only have them about 1-3 times a week...Which still is a lot.

It was very easy to become lucid before, i just knew it instantly.

      WOOT!

I always thought the reason you wake up after starting and LD was because your already in the process of waking up and conciousness slowly creeps in.

When I have LD's like this it seems like I become lucid, and then a *really* bright, white curtain is closing in, swallowing everything as it gets closer.
kinda cool, but disappointing(sp?) when it actually happens, because I always wish the dream would actually last. I've tried way stop it, but it always happens too fast.

Hmm; I agree. Young childrens' thought-structures are very under-rated. I'd love to read about scientific-conductions attempting to distinguish the different psychological patterns of adults and children.
