      Ever Interviewed Your Subconscious?

Since lucid dreaming allows the opportunity to engage the subconscious mind, has anyone tried to interview it? I know the traditional questions people ask it like what is their dream job or who their soul mate is. On dream related topics--some people identify it as a dream guide as opposed to simply being the subconscious--they ask methods for learning new techniques like flying or shape-shifting. But what about the nature of the subconscious itself, or even your very dream world?

      Questions to Ask Your Subconscious
      • Who and/or what exactly are you?
      • How are you and I different?
      • How and why do you know things that I don't?
      • What exactly are dream characters and why do they exist?
      • Are dream characters self-aware?
      • Why do we dream at all, or, what do you think a dream is, exactly?
      • How exactly are you defined or motivated?

I wouldn't know how to validate any of the responses the subconscious might give, but it would certainly be insightful to see how it would answer these questions. Has anyone tried this before? Or at the very least, plans to? I know I'll try the first chance I get.

Very interesting topic. I'll ask some of these questions, specially the first one!. At this moment, my main objective in LD is to know more about my subconscious. I've discovered that it speaks in plural when referring to itself, like "we think you should do this or that". I've also asked about the nature of the dreams and it has answered beautiful things like "dreams are for learning, same as waking life".

From many things that I've heard from it, I could tell you that there's no difference to it between conscious and subconscious, it considers us as a team.

I've heard other people mention when talking to dream characters, they sometimes refer to themselves in a plural sense. Since you mentioned that it considers itself and the conscious mind a team, I wonder if that's what it is referring to by "we." It would make sense, because if it's not that, it makes me wonder what exactly the "we" is.

One of my main goals is to learn about it as well. Theoretically, you could also essentially program your mind however you saw fit. After all, those are the goals of hypnotism and affirmations which do work, only not instantly. With lucid dreaming, you could change your behavior over night. I'm getting ahead of myself, though. I appreciate the input you gave. And I look forward to what answers you'll have to share.

I've had a lucid dream in which I went into a room that was designated my sub-conscious. There were random childhood toys strewn around that I had long forgotten about, and a whole bunch of TV screens playing old memories I had also forgotten about. It was pretty sweet.
