An unusual "paralysis" after a dream

This is the second time this weird thing has happened to me.
Yesterday I was having a dream and i just went out of it becausei knew i was dreaming. However i have this technique of getting out of dreams (usually the scary ones) by making my nerves "storm" - i dunno know how to explain it because there arent any appropriate words out there that could describe it. But when i did this (which i do whenever i dream about something scary) i got kind of paralyzed - my muscles got all tight and my mouth automatically opened. Before that i saw a flash of light on my bed ... as if someone was searching my brains or something - a really odd feeling - alien i might say.
Has this happened to any of you? Pleaes post some comments.

      this sounds like sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysis is a state the brain induces in order to stop you acting out your dreams in the physical sense. Just to make this clear, it has no bearing on lucidity.
There's a tutorial on it, written by me, in the tutorial section.
If you don't know what it is, it can indeed be very, very scary. I had my first experience of this when i was twelve, due to a recurring nightmare of being run over by a train...the train would come down the line, and i'd freeze up...after a bit, i realised it was a dream...

It is SP alright...but there is really nothing to be afraid of. Nothing can hurt you while your like this, & if you wish to get out of it (though I really think you wouldn't want to), just tell yourself in your mind to wake up, & you'll snap out of it.
SP can be used as a starting point for WILD. And I find that the LDs that you can get from them are a lot more vivid (that is the only method I have used), w/the occasional LD in which I get to go read a book I left on the counter.....I call them S_____..........
