      Talking while asleep

I know I talk in my sleep(along with many others in the world). I was wondering if anybody ever bothered to record themselves while asleep(whether it be audio, video&audio, or whatever)and see what you said and if you matched up to what you dreamed or anything else.

(sorry if it's worded wrong or confusing, quite tired)

While we were abroad on a school trip my roomie talked to me while i was sleeping and recorded it wif his phone and i said the most random things....but i dont remember dreaming. I said things like "Again again" and at least i have water you freaking hippy!"

We laffed our souls out afterwards

      I sleep walk like crazy.

One time I was at a sleepover and I suddenly stood up and asked everyone "GUYS IS IT 3PM????" (it was 8am) they told me "no" and I laid back down and continued sleeping. I don't remember it all so i must have been sleeping...

I don't think sleep talking would match your dreams, because sleep talking and walking occure during deep sleep whereas dreams occure durin REM sleep. That's why you don't both dream and sleep talk at the same time.

I've been meaning to tape myself sleeping for a while now, I have a strong suspicion that I speak a lot in my sleep and I'd be interested to know what I say. Often before nodding off I get an urge to say something. When I was younger one of my friends once told me that at a sleepover I sat up and started laughing in the early hours one morning. I have absolutely no recollection of this, and it's quite possible that my friend just made it up, but it freaked me out nonetheless.

Dreams actually occur during both NREM and REM sleep. They are more prevalent in REM sleep, but patients who are physically incapable of proper REM sleep (either because of brain damage or taking certain tricyclic antidepressants) report that they still have dreams.

I, too, would be interested in whether the recordings and dreams match up.

Even if the dreams don't match up with the things you say while asleep, it would be neat to see what you say. I might leave my computer on overnight during the weekend with it recording, might not work though.

So they're not under sleep paralysis when having nREM dreams?

A couple of times when becoming lucid I have felt the strongest urge to talk in waking life, but have only felt the physical struggle my vocal chords.

I remember one time a couple of friends were with me and I was slightly dozing off (meow) and was conversating with my friends. It turns out this whole exchange was just a dream! I was trying to keep up with the 'whole conversation'. We were all laughing afterwards.

Do you seriously think that blood is the only thing in this world that is colored red?
