Question WILD attempt failed but still worked!

      Hello everyone
      First post...

So I've had a couple of DILD (like 10 in a year) and last week I had my first "WILD" experience.
I would like to share it and see if you can tell me what exactly happend and wether it was really a WILD.

I woke from my alarm clock and I tried lying on my back without moving.. you know how it goes.
The thing is; after something like 10 minutes I gave up and rolled over to my side.
The next thing I know is I'm dreaming! First it felt like it was just a normal thought but then it felt like it became a dream. After I rolled over, I don't remember trying to stay still and I certainly don't remember sensations or HI.

Can someone explain me what how I got lucid? Also is this kinda more like WBTB or the "Stop, drop and roll technique".
So, how did it work and maybe you have any suggestions for me to achieve it again?

      Much appreciated
      -Lean

That's how a WILD usually works, there's a lot of misinformation about sleep paralysis and HI, those things don't happen as much as they're talked about, usually you'll just be falling asleep one second and in a dream the next, it all comes down to timing. Congrats on your WILD success! =]

That usually is how it works for me as well. I have been using the WILD technique since I read about it as a beginner, and it has been very effective for me. I usually manage 4-5 lucid dreams per week if I attempt a WILD every night.

Also, I don't often experience Hypnagogic Imagery. I'd reckon perhaps it happens 2 times every 10 attempts. Of the times it does occur, it is usually auditory. Most of the times I attempt a WILD, I end up in the dream before I know it. Sometimes I even lose consciousness during the attempt, but regain it when the dream begins simply because of the heightened awareness I had in attempting to keep the mind awake while the body falls asleep. For this reason, I believe WILDs are one of the most effective techniques available, if you are willing to practice it. Even if you "fail" to complete it, there is still a chance of a lucid dream. At least in my experience it has been that way.

      Woah, Nice
I'm just wondering, what kind of anchor you use to hold consciousness during the wild?

In the past I concentrated on my breathing as an anchor, however, I found that I was falling asleep many times instead. Currently I use the breathing anchor up until I am relaxed, then I concentrate on visualizing a short mantra or numbers for the rest. This works best for me, but it varies from person to person.

I find that being in the most comfortable position proves highly effective- you don't necessarily have to be on your back or your side. Most of my WILDs have been achieved by lying on my belly, which is most comfortable for me.
