Question I know I'm awake but yet not really; plus shiny eyes?

      Hi,

So I've had a couple of lucid dreams and I've noticed that while I realize I'm awake, it's like even though I know I'm awake I don't really know I'm awake. I guess a way to describe it would be that it's like when you're reading a book and you know what's happening yet you don't really grasp what's happening at the same time. It's sort of like that.

I've also found that I wake up easily because of blinking in my dreams, and even swallowing saliva (not in real life, I do this habitually as my dream self). However, tonight I actually stayed dreaming for awhile regardless.

And I noticed something. This morning when I looked in the mirror my eyes looked different. They're very shiny and bright. Just thought it was kind of interesting.

Does anyone have this problem, where you know you're awake yet it's like you're trapped between knowing you're awake and dreaming? It's just so hard to explain, I'm not describing it well at all. And does anyone have the blinking issue?

      Thanks!

      Hi,

I belive the early ending lucid dreams are caused by lack of Dream Stabilization .
You might be just shallowly inside a dream, so your dream body senses might be bleeding onto real body senses.
And since your in Rem Atonia during a dream you can't move stuff like limbs or head due to it. Yet you can steer natural flexes that happen without your involvement (Aka: swallowing, breathing or blinking) and that might be moving you out of the dream
This problem should be resolved easily if you use some Dream Stabilization stuff.

I had similiar issue myself once ago.
After entering a dream i've closed my eyes and few sec later i was awake again.
It shouldn't naturally happen unless your at end of your rem cycle or your just losing stability of dream.

These tutorials might help you with stuff a bit

Have you been actively trying to have lucid dreams, eg dream journal, reality checks, induction techniques? Also, did you experience this (sort of know you were awake) before doing these things?

lucidybug, I do keep a dream journal as well as practice some reality checks. I've tried a couple of different methods right now I'm using WBTB. It's just something that happens whenever I have an LD. Hopefully I manage to overcome it.

I had a LD just like the one you are describing. I was controlling my actions, but the dream wasn't really that vivid. All the while, I thought that I was awake and just thinking up the whole scenario in my head...until I woke up.
