Dream Talisman- Foolproof RCs and vividness

A lot of people have said that they have had trouble with Reality Checks and I have heard a lot of people talking about talismans and so I came up with my plan:

I am going to purchase(or find) some kind of talisman which I will carry around with me all the time in waking life. Then, when I want to do a Reality Check I will try to activate the talisman. If I am dreaming then it will glow or something. It doesn't really matter what it does, so long as I can convince myself that it works. It is all about placebo.

Once I get used to having my dream-talisman around with me I will start to remember it in my dreams. It will then become a fool-proof reality check.

Also, I could put an 'increase clarity' function into it which I can use when slipping out of lucidness.

So, what do people think of my plan?
I am pretty sure it will work for me, I don't know if anyone else has tried something similar before.

I suggest something unique and poignant, not too common but don't go overboard with buying something... probably best to get some old artifact from out of your closet.

It's a good idea, but it's been done. I don't know the name of the technique off the top of my head.

      An oxymoron.

Make your own talisman. It's a great exercise for the imagination. Find a random cool-looking rock (fossil love). Or perhaps obtain an antique pocket watch (very classy~).

I've found a talisman of sorts, but in the dreams themselves. It's supposed to give me great power (it looks like a mood ring's liquid crystal). I haven't tried it out yet, merely because I've scarcely had the chance!

Methinks it'd be more reliable to reality check the old fashioned way. Having to condition yourself to imagine a dream correlation to an object that may or may not appear in the dream, and having to consciously disregard the concept of placebo seems much more complicated to me, say, than double checking a digital watch to see if the numbers change.

That's actually a great idea! I might carve me some kind of wooden thing and put a stone in it.

My talisman is going to glow a bright light and will ensure that my dreams are very vivid with complete control.

Ya that sounds like a good idea.

Hmmn, okay. I'll see if I can find the name of it anywhere.

Hey thats a good idea, I could get extra power from the talisman giving me better dream control.Methinks it'd be more reliable to reality check the old fashioned way.

Meh, I can see what you are saying. I think that if I get used to doing reality checks with the talisman then it will be more likely to appear in dreams.

That sounds pretty cool, I was thinking of something similar, a glowing precious stone or something.

Hmmn. Yes, that would be nice.

However, I have been trying to look into gemstones and their 'effects'

I found a pretty good site which tells you the powers of different stones:

      http://www.beadage.net/gemstones/gemstonesA_F.shtml

I am trying to decide on what would be the best stones to use.
Amethyst is meant to be good for LDing in general. Hmmn.

I've had several over time, but none has worked for me yet. Right now it is a keychain with a dog tag that says "Are You Dreaming", and a picture of my brother to remind to me to do RC's when I see family members (common DS for me). I even slept with it in my hand for a couple nights. No luck yet. I found out I can hold something in my hand all night long tho.
