I seem to be hopeless with becoming lucid. Last night, for instance, I had an OBE, and I didn't become lucid! I even made something dissappear after my OBE, but still didnt realise it was a dream. This has happened on numerous occasions where, for example, I can fly, hover, do a number of inhuman things, or even see very wierd things happening around me, but I still don't become lucid. Once, I was able to breath underwater and I thought: 'hmmm, I could do this in my last dream too' but for some very bizarre reason I didnt become lucid. I must have realised it was a dream, but didnt seem to care much at all. Now I am desperate to have a lucid dream, and I would definitely not let a dream slip by like that while knowing its a dream!
Also, in most nightmares I've had when I'm running away from something, I always try to make myself wake up by closing my eyes or something similar. This means I must know I'm dreaming, but it's so frustrating when I can't take any control over it.
It seems to me like my consciousness is been held back behind closed gates while I'm dreaming, and it can't get past no matter what. Is this normal? What can I do to get my consciousness incorporated into my dreams?!?
