If inmobile, why do some toss and turn?

Have you ever noticed someone tossing/turning in bed, shaking their head, or even talking in their sleep? How exactly does that happen when the muscles are inactive? Is it certain muscles that go inactive? Or does that paralysis occur only in REM and movement is regained in NREM? Sorry for the multitude of questions asked

      Peace
Do you seriously think that blood is the only thing in this world that is colored red?

Good question. I don't know for sure, but can offer a couple of possible explainations:

      1) They are temporariliy dropping out of sleep paralysis

      2) Sleep paralysis is not an absolute thing for some people. They have limited paralysys. Take the case of sleep walking for example. Not much paralysis there.

Everyone is different and located somewhere on the curve. Some experience total and deep paralysis, some experience almost none. The rest of us are somewhere in the middle.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Thanks Seeker, I figured it varied greatly person to person. There doesn't seem to be one definite answer. I wonder what sleepwalking would be since that person is dreaming and being active in the waking world?

I've often wondered this myself, is worth researching.
