Forgetting a dream and remembering 2 hours later, insane skill or insane luck?

So I woke up at 6 AM, had a pretty cool dream and went back to sleep. I woke up 2 hours later and knew I had an awesome dream I kind of meditated (just laying still and focusing on nothing) and then I knew a part lf my dream which led to more and more until I nearly knew the entire dream.

Was this 'insane' skills or 'insane' luck?

Ps, I've never remember a dream in this method.

This happens to anyone. This is not a technique. I once dreamt and didn't woke up after it so when i woke up i did not know that i dreamed but after 3 hours something happened and remembered me about the dream. Its not a skill or luck . If you dreamt about going to the beach , if you go to the beach in waking life you will remember it.

^^ And yet it was still pretty normal.

Even though you can't immediately remember them, dreams can linger among your brain's neurons for quite some time after waking. So, with a little effort (that meditation you mention), or perhaps some waking-life cue (Nikakwa's beach example) the dream might bubble up to your consciousness once more.

So it likely wasn't something profound; indeed this is a fairly common event. I would recommend, though, that you keep doing that "focusing on nothing" method, because it can be a handy tool for recalling dreams.

The way that thoughts are linked is the same way that I believe dreams are linked to waking thoughts.

The connection could be something more kinetic or olfactory than visual. olfactory is actually the sense most linked to memory. It could also be an unconscious thing the same unconscious process going on in the background. Maybe something visual that you don't notice like going from a dark room to a light room and last time that happened was in the dream. Maybe there is an unconscious process that resets every hour and a half while conscious as well as unconscious and as it goes through that process it unconsciously connects those memories of the last time and when you remember what happened an hour and a half ago or three hours ago it comes as a shock to your conscious and it pulls it up.

There are a lot of reasons that we know that we remember dreams and other things we can only speculate. A good sign of good recall is that you notice the transition from sleeping to waking. You remember your dream because you were just there five seconds ago!

No this is quite normal. I have this alot. Many times I'll see one thing that makes me recall an entire dream, usually one of the first dreams of the night considering I remember all the later REM cycle dreams well. I think that this sudden recall happens because we don't stress over recalling the dream. Hmm, isn't it odd how that works? We don't really care and realize that remembering a certain dream is no big deal, and bam, the entire dream comes to us without ANY effort at all. Something tells me that how the entire hobby of Lucid dreaming is in all.

I don't know, that's just my thoughts based off of my experiences with this occurrence.

I do, but often after seeing something I saw in my dream. For example, I dreamt I was uprooting my toilet and when I went to the bathroom after I awoke, I suddenly remembered. I do this a lot. XD

I remember dreams regularly whilst in meditation. It can be during a meditation I do many hours later in the day as well. Usually I only remember little snippets although they are always accompanied by the feeling I experienced in the dream.
