Hello! Last night was my first attempt at WTBTB/WILD. Something weird happened and I don't know if that's what normally happens but it kind of caught me off guard and I started panicking a little which caused the attempt to fail. I was lying completely still, and I started to enter the hypnagogic state. My body starting buzzing a little and I was seeing splashes off moving colors, mainly dark blue. At around this time however, it felt as if my eyes were open when they were actually shut and I felt my eyes moving uncontrollably. Because of this, I kept feeling as if I needed to close my eyes even though they were already closed and the tension of applying pressure trying to make sure my eyes were closed snapped me out of it.

Does anyone know what sensation this is? I'm kind of assuming it has to do with entering REM (rapid eye movement) but I never heard of anyone else experiencing that.

Also does anyone know the sequence of events prior to entering the lucid dream successfully with WILD? Is it relaxation, followed by hypnogogic phase, followed by rem atonia, then followed by losing awareness of your physical body as your dreamscape forms? Do these sequence of events differ for different people? I kind of want to be prepared in advance so I don't get too excited.

Speaking of excitement, how does a first time "WILD-er" keep calm during this whole process. Transitioning from an awake state to a dream state without dropping conscious awareness seems like a crazy trippy and one of a kind experience, and I find myself hard-pressed to believe that I can keep a calm head throughout this. Is this where the meditation practice helps?
