Question Weekend sleep pattern affects recall/ how to fix?

Basically I am like any other university student, I like to work hard and play hard. That being said I keep my weekday bedtimes consistent to keep a good sleep pattern for recall and better dreams. During the weekends I get just as much sleep even more sometimes but i stay out late and do not go to bed until sometimes 3am. Then when I transition from weekend to weekday sleep patterns I always see a gap in my recall and I hate it so much, I just really want to know if there is anyway i can combat this without giving up my late nights on the weekends?

      Thank you

      Hello stonedreams!

By chance, are you intoxicated after these late nights? If so, I find that my dream recall is drastically diminished if I had been drinking or smoking weed. If it's only happening on the weekends, I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless it begins bleeding into your weekly schedule.

As far as ways to get around that problem, I would just suggest trying a mantra/auto-suggestion (unless you do that already!).

I appreciate the reply, it most likely is due to my slight intoxication as i figured but I will be using a mantra technique as you suggested on those late Fridays and Saturdays to increase my chances of decent recall. Thanks!

I'd have to go with the intoxication as well. Recall is related more to the length of your sleep than the time, so if you're still sleeping the same amount of time it shouldn't affect it too much.

I never sleep at the same times every night but I always get roughly the same number of hours of sleep, and I don't see a difference in recall.
