Yeah, I was thinking it was a little cutesy. I get the sense though, that you're not looking to mix words together and come up with some new super word. Are you looking for more of a play on words?

Call it what you will, but somehow I think we've come full circle to slumberfuck.

I'm not the biggest Freud fan, but I think he believed that dreams were a way for us to fill voids that existed in our waking lives (such as a happiness that existed once with a lover) - so, I guess these dreams are a normal thing to experience. Unfortunately, they become a bit nullified once you're brought back to "reality".

Forget the word calling thing for it - maybe you (we) need to focus on how to use these dreams as a therapy for moving on with our lives and not think of it as a crutch... or somekind of curse.

I didn't just make that word up. In Latin, it would mean a "false or misleading gift." I thought it quite fitting, not to mention sounding adequately somber. Oh, and the word "mare" really has nothing to do with bad dreams. A Night Mare was actually a spirit (which I have encountered) that was held responsible for taking people on wild flights through unspoken terrors through the night. A lovemare would just be a love horse, not very descriptive of a dissapointing dream.

Oh, and Leo, my "yada yada" post was just a cheap quip at your characteristicaly lengthy replies, I meant no offense. It was a good point you made, in fact, I backed you up. I just thought it funny that she asked for a word, and got an essay from you. Quintessential Leo, that's all.

Actually, I was thinking about it this morning and I think maybe the cutesiness of Bubble Burst isn't such a bad thing. Why give it some serious or somber kind of name? Bubble Burst cleverly captures the idea of what you're looking for, and when you wake up and realize what's happend and think about the name, I can see it making someone kind of giggle at the silliness of it. And really, after being so dissapointed with what has occurred, what's wrong with something a little fun/funny to counteract the negative feeling? Better to have the experience, think "Oh man, I had a bubble burst," have a chuckle at the silliness of the name and get on with your day. Maybe giving it a serious label will only help to intensify the bad feelings. Don't let it do that to you.

Thanks for your optimistic outlook on the whole thing, I do really appreciate your help. And I think you are right Joe, it doesn't really matter what they are called. Hopefully if I do have anymore I'll eventually be able to use them to become lucid...decent dream signs maybe? I think I'll just call them bubble dreams for now.

Well, no... we should all think about this a bit first, shouldn't we. Honestly, does ANYBODY really understand Aquanina's problem with these bitter-sweet dreams? I feel it might be a 'Glass half full, Glass half empty' type of situation. We need to wonder whether such dreams would not be consolations for some people even while for other people they may tend to aggravate the emotional loss.

For instance, I lost my mother a few years back, and I had dearly loved the old Lady. For a full year afterward I was still reflexibly picking up the phone to call her if the days passing had brought to me an interesting story. And now I dream of her. Such dreams are a consolation.

But, yes, we should all commiserate, but lets keep our heads and continue to discern that we actually don't have a real problem here.

There was this girl that I was dating during the 2001/2002 era. So far, she has been the only girl I had truely loved. Although during waking hours I do not concern myself with the memory, and in 90% of my dreams she does not make an appearance. But even three years and a couple of minor relationships later, I will still occasionally have a dream in which I will entertain the idea of reuniting with her. These dreams no longer distress me, however, so this coincides with what Leo was saying.

"Expected release date..." that's what I call a faltering dream.

But I know, it's terrible, the high of a great dream to realize upon awakening that you may never dream it again. Maybe you can call it something like "Elusive Ecstasy"
