Is it okay to practice multiple techniques to ld?

I haven't been committed in a while since I had my first ld but now I'm back. Anyways, is it ok to practice multiple techniques? I've been rotating between fild, wild, and dild techniques even though I'm pretty sure fild and wild are the same thing just with a different technique to keep your mind awake. And since I'm asking that, why do people ask their dc's their fears, or what they represent?

Yes, I think it is okay to use multiple techniques in your LD practice.

Keep in mind that it is lucid dreaming you are practicing, and not techniques. Techniques are merely the tools you use to make that LD practice work... and it does not hurt to have as many tools in your box as possible, so that you can be ready to DILD or WILD/DEILD as the need arises (and yes, FILD is indeed a WILD technique).

      Hey there,

Sure, its ok to practice different techniques.

However, do be careful you don't burn yourself out trying everything at once. Additionally, don't forgot to actually pay attention to your dreams. This may sound evident at first thought, but you'd be amazed at how easy it is to get lost in theory about dreams and forget about actually experiencing the dreams themselves. To give you an analogy, take cars. You can take classes on driving, learn the schematics, listen to stories about driving, but the only way you're actually going to learn to drive is to get in the car and do it. All the theory in the world won't do you any good if you're with your head in the clouds when you're actually behind the wheel.

Also, be sure to give new techniques enough time. Remember that it takes your body and your mind some time to adjust to new changes. So don't switch too fast thinking a technique may do nothing for you. It may just be that you haven't gone through the period of adjustment yet.

But as long as you take those little 'caution flags' in mind, feel free to explore, experiment, and enjoy the various techniques there are!

      Just my 2 cents,
