Having Lucid Dreams Recently Without Trying. Opinions Would Be Appreciated.

So I started trying to get into lucid dreaming about two months ago. I lasted about a month, and after no results, I gave up and went back into a non-aware lifestyle. The weird thing is that I've been having lucid dreams recently. A week and a half-ish ago I had a dream where I got lucid and then I instantly woke myself up.
4 days ago, I had a dream where I was brushing my teeth in my house and then I became lucid and woke myself up from excitement after 5 or so minutes of practicing dream control.
I just woke up from a dream where I became lucid and then walked around talking to DCs and practicing dream control for a solid 20 minutes.
My point is that I am having lucid dreams recently more frequently, and they are lasting longer. I am not doing a single thing to induce them.
I noticed a couple of things. The first thing is that whenever I become lucid, it's not that I notice something, it's because an intrusive thought just hits me like a sack of bricks and says "I'm dreaming." I'm not doing MILD so this is sort of unexplained. I am completely unaware of my surroundings and then once this occurs I suddenly become hyper-aware.
The second thing that I noticed is that DCs really don't seem to care. At all. They talk to me and we have legitimate conversations. If I bring up the fact that I'm dreaming and that I know I am, they aren't hostile. They don't even really react. They just acknowledge that fact and move on.
One dream character that I talked to, when asked how he was able to make the voices of my friends say whatever he wanted them too despite never hearing that sentence be said by them before, he casually stated that it was because the machine that controlled this dream mixed the words together. For the record, I doubt there's a dream machine. He was likely referring to my subconscious or he could have been created by me, and thus reacted to my expectations.
I just don't.... get it. Why is this happening? I think my subconscious might be essentially telling me. After all, I'm sure not the one who is aware. It's just really strange and judging from the docility of my DCs, the idea that my subconscious is doing this seems fairly likely.
I am curious as to what is going on. In all honestly, I just want reassurance that I will continue having lucid dreams. I don't expect anyone to reply with a concrete answer, but if you could give your opinion that would be nice.

In my experience, when life gets in the way and I can't constantly practice lucid dreaming, I've randomly had lucids too. It may be possible that when you had the first "random" lucid it probably made you think about lucid dreaming. Then since you thought about it, you had another one. Even just thinking about lucid dreaming can sometimes cause you to have one. As with DCs, that's based on your subconscious. For me DCs sometimes act differently in different lucids. And with how you said "hits me like a sack of bricks", that's what happens to me sometimes. I don't even do a reality check and all of the sudden I just realize I'm dreaming out of no where.

      Hopefully I'm not too late...

To add to what owtoty said, I think that there is a sort of lag between the practice of LDing and the results... For me it's usually two weeks to a month,. If let's say I had a long break from my practice and then started practicing again, I'll usually only see results (like more frequent LDs) a couple of weeks later. The same is true if I stop the practice for a couple of weeks - I'll still have "lucid dream inertia" for a couple of weeks after stopping, and even if after these couple of weeks I'll start the practice again, the results of the new practice would also lag behind (so it might even seem for the first week or two that by starting practicing again I made the issue worse).

It's weird how these things work - but I think it's just our brain trying to adapt to the new habit, which takes a certain amount of time to take effect.

      Hello there,

I think one thing we should keep in mind is that the subconscious is like a human being, if you insit too much on it or if you are too oppressant it will just do the opposite. So it is a good thing that just to keep LDs in mind and not force too much to get it.

      =)
