I've heard that you're supposed to gain clarity, but I had an extremely vivid dream yesterday where the opposite happened. I was already pretty suspicious about my dream state so I remember clearly how much clarity I had before becoming fully lucid. The dream was so real that every reality check except for the nose plug check failed to tell me I was dreaming, it was perhaps even more vivid than real life.
However when I fully acknowledged I was dreaming, the clarity of the dream plunged. It's still the most vivid lucid dream I've ever had, but it blurred considerably compared to the dream before I fully acknowledged I was dreaming.
Why is this the case and what can I do to stop it? When I shouted 'clarity now' a few times the dream would clear for about 5 seconds then blur again. Running my hand over objects didn't help much either. I already practice ADA, so please don't suggest that.
