Dream recall can be tricky to get up. It took me maybe 6 months to reliably get to at least 1 a night, but even today there are still times when I won't recall a dream on a night. You could always try setting an alarm 5+ hours into your sleep. There's more REM in the second half of the night, which means greater chance of dream recall. Could become part of the SSILD practice.
