How do I stop being so single minded while lucid?

When I become lucid, I often become hyper obsessed with some goal I made while awake, and focus on it extremely even when there are even funnier things I could be doing in the current dream. And I don't realize until I wake up that I wasted a perfect opportunity. Any tips for thinking a little more clearly while dreaming and considering different things than just what I decided I would do the night before?

I had similar but different problem in my past. When I became lucid I had no plan for it so I did anything in rush and because of that rush I also lost a lot of opportunities. I learn that staying calm and doing nothing is better that doing anything in rush or with obsession. Nowadays when I'm in LD I love to observe my surroundings. I love to stare at wall and touch it. Feel texture, hear noises around. That made my LD more stable and longer so if you have similar problem - be slow and calm instead of doing something with obsession. It will take few dreams before you learn to say "stop"
