      I think coincidence.

Some one is sure to have had a dream about planes somewhere before 9/11 <=/

Hello oniric, The same thing happened to me the other day. I had a dream that a plane crashed in Nigeria. It was a weird dream but I didnt think much of it until that evening. I opened up internet explorer and on the MSN homepage one of the headlines said "Plane crashes in Nigeria kills 100 people" I could not believe it i think i was actually in mild shock. Its highly unlikely that i would dream a plane crashes in Nigeria of all places. The crash happened after i woke up. I am skeptical of psycics but now it makes me wonder.

      Time anomalies and future dreams

I have noticed time anomalies occuring with both lucid and normal dream states that on waking appear to directly relate to happenings in the physical world. I believe that it is entirely possible that the physical world 'lags behind' the dream state in terms of time. The dream state itself does not appear to have any boundaries when it comes to time and motion.

I recently had a lucid dream that to my surprise was interupted by a telephone ringing in my pocket. When I answered it, it was a good friend of mine, who I had not spoken to for many months, calling to see how I was. I managed to remain calm and told him that I was in the middle of a lucid dream, I described my surroundings to him (a beautiful country park, where I was standing in front of a river) and asked him to do a reality check on himself. Unfortunately, the phone line fell silent after this and I woke up. I did several reality checks and ascertained that I was now fully conscious. Around 30 minutes later my friend called me to see how I was doing. Unfortunatley, he could not remember what he had been dreaming, but did say that I had been on his mind as soon as he had woken up around 30 minutes earlier.

Another common time anomally that seems to occur in dreams is time running backwards i.e. you will see a part of your dream occuring during the day, only it will be moving in the oppositie direction. This often occurrs as a mirror image also. All this is of course theoretical and whether you believe,or not, in dreams that show us the future depends entirely upon how 'real' you believe the dream state of mind to be and to what extent you believe in syncronicity over coincidence.

Most of my prophetic dreams have been of a highly symbolic nature and only appear to 'tell the future' if what they have shown is interpreted by using very loose associations to connect them to the event. For example - I once had a dream in which a friend of mine drowned. A few days after this he quit his job, because he could no longer take the pressure he was being put under by his manager. This could of course be a complete coincidence and we must be careful when interpreting prophetic dreams that we do not give too much meaning to very loose connections between dream content and physical events. It is also possible, in this case, that I was subconsciously aware of the problems he was having.

A good idea is to keep a dream diary by your bed, to see if you can relate your dreams to the physical world in a meaningful way. Just be careful not to over associate dream imagery with the physical world - with the power of abstract thought it is possible to connect everything in the entire world together in what appears to be a meaningful way.

Sorry for the long post, I got carried away! Anyone else got any thoughts about this?
      Happy dreaming.

Thats a difficult one. I've had recurring dreams before and have continued a dream during the same night's sleep - as in I've woken up from a dream, gone to the bathroom, and then fallen back into the same dream. I don't think I could make this happen though. Especially when dreams become lucid, I tend to get excited and starrt manipulating my surroundings pretty quickly. I do a lot of flying at the moment! A man with a gun sounds a bit scary, although I guess you were giving an example.

I guess you could try day dreaming a lot about the dream you wish to go back into, thinking about the surroundings of the dream, smells, sights, sounds. Before sleeping.

I have found that doing loads of stereograms/ magic eye pictures during the day helps to go lucid later. Holding a stereogram image in your sights trains your conscious mind to hold a relaxed position (if you concentrate too hard the image fails/ breaks up , just like in a lucid dream state). Only a little consciousness required! Too much and we awake. That works with lots of reality checks during the day I find - always looking at clocks then re-checking them for oddities, re-reading stuff to make sure it still says the same thing, pinching myself. All day I do this and I'm maybe getting two lucid dreams a week! Of course if you go Lucid you can re-enter any previous dream you want if you can maintain the lucidity in a relaxed way.

      Happy dreaming.

      911 and final fantasy tactics

I bet if you studied all the screens/ menus and options you were using to create final fantasy tactics that you would be able to find associations with 911 if you looked hard enough. That doesn't make it prophetic in any way of course. Just making the point that if you think about anything hard enough and create abstract associations you can connect anything with anything else in what appears to be a meaningful way. This is what happens when somebody becomes a paranoid schizophrenic or a conspiracy theorist - they associate things that have no obvious connection by thinking about them too much and discovering loose or common similarities.
