      Sleep talking/Sleep walking

I was just wondering, for the sake of curiosity, how many of my fellow DV members sleep walk or sleep talk.

I sleep talk. I am not sure why I do this. Usually, I will wake myself up saying something I was trying to say in my dream. I can remember one specific occasion in which I woke up sleep singing! I have always been facinated by this. Does anyone know what causes it?

I tend to talk in my sleep. Usually right after going to bed or if
I'm attempting to exit a nightmare. My youngest son will walk around
while he's sleeping, but only if you give him commands. It's really funny.
If I stop telling him what to do he'll just stand there, fast asleep.

I do talk in my sleep sometimes. I only happens though when I am sick and/or have a fever....not sure why, but that is my pattern.

I talk in my sleep quite a bit...so I'm told. Called my bf several different names in the past few months.

I also move around alot in my sleep. Elbow and kick and punch in my sleep. So I prefer to sleep alone.

My sister and brother both sleep walk on the rare occasion. I think I did once. I remember it was late one night and I wanted to clean the house but I was too tired. Woke up the next morning and my house was spotless. I must have sleep cleaned it. hehehe. No one else was living with me at the time.

I answered "sleep talk" because that's what I do now. I'll hold phone conversations with people that, upon awakening, I either don't remember or remember as a dream. Apparently I can seem fairly lucid, except for spouting information and claims that make no logical sense. Up until I was in middle school, I used to sleep walk several times a week. My parents even put one of those baby gates at the top of the stairs to prevent me from tripping down them. (Although I think I just stepped over the gate). Sometimes I would sleep walk to act out my dreams - waking up from those was always interesting.

      record it

Those of you that sleep talk should find away to record it. I'll bet that would be interesting to here the following morning.

If you are sleeping WITH someone, lets hope you don't start moaning the wrong name.

      Re: record it

Regarding the recording, I've always wanted to do that. Just never got around to buying a tape recorder. I think I will go out tonight and get one.

And regarding the moaning the wrong name thing, i hate to admit it but it's happened repeated times already.

Heh, I called out 4 different names in a month and a half stretch. (so he says) All I ever say is...They 're dreams I had no control over. Once I start having controled dreams about other people...then maybe there's something to worry about.

The tape recorder thing sounds like a fun thing, Howetzer. It would be cool if someone would try it. Maybe I will.....

Anyway, it seems like a lot of people sleep talk, and more than I expected sleep walk. So, on nights when these things occur, what conditions were you going to sleep under? Was it normal? Were you really exhausted? Were you nervous, excited, depressed? It seems that I sleep talk more often if I am really depressed or exhausted.

I used to do something to do with sleep, sleep movement i'll call it, I used to shake my head from side to side and it's reall conforting, I sometimes do it to get to sleep and sometimes when I listen to music in the car.

What do I get out of it, I dont know! I think what it is it makes me i tiny bit dizzy and so I want to close my eyes, I dont know.

I have done both, but don't do either regularly.

The only time I sleepwalked that I know of was when I was quite young... I got out of bed and went out onto the landing, where my mum was putting stuff into the airing cupboard. She asked me what I was doing up and I just mumbled stuff and she just put me back to bed.

Just thought I would share a funny story. When I was with my ex, he used to talk in his sleep ALL THE TIME! Most of the time I was too tired to care and a lot of times it didn't make sense. One night I woke up and went to the bathroom. I came back and he was talking. I leaned over and asked him if he was awake...just more mumbling. I asked what he was saying, and he said, "I run naked through pizza shops." I was laughing so hard and asked him "What" again. He repeated, "I run naked though pizza shops." I said, "What are you talking about!?" Then he said, "Nevermind, you just don't understand." Then he turned over and stopped talking. He had no recolection of it in the morning and thought I was making it all up. It was some funny stuff.

cocoastar.....Don't we all run around naked in pizza shops?
      That is a funny story.

Does anyone know how to make your PC record for longer periods?
I have a voice recorder but it does not record but for a short time.

I think I sleep talk, sometimes for some reason in the night ill be half awake, half asleep and say some random things and I can see the person im saying it to. Before Ive even woken up in the night thinking im doing something like playing a video game, or on the checkouts serving someone, I remember several times searching my bed in a panic for the keyboard because my character was dying.

Once I thought I was at school, and in my dream I must have been told to do a forward roll, because I woke up, got out of bed and got in the position to do a forward roll before I fully woke up and realized what I was doing.
I can't say I really know anything about what you're talkinga bout , but I said plausible because of that incredibly cool blind spot trick .

I've woken up standing in the middle of my kitchen once years ago. It was night and the entire kitchen was pitch black and cold. That was extremely scary.

My father is a very frequent sleep walker.

As for sleep talking, I'm really not sure. I know that I do it, but I do not know how frequently because I wouldn't normally be aware that I was doing it. The last time I only knew because my brother and his girlfriend heard me speaking to a woman whom I was having sex with in a lucid dream. Lucky for me that my words out as non-sensical gibberish rather than actual words, lol.

I dont, but some of my friends do, so when we are all over at someones house and they fall asleep then they will say soemthing so we start to mess with them, so we get them to say something, then usually they will partially awaken and say something like "you assholes" and go back to sleep, and they usually odnt remember it

anyone who sleeps near me tells me i talk, but nobody ever bothers to listen closely enough to make out what i'm saying.

except one night i woke up to my late roomie laughing his ass off. supposedly i'd said, all seriously with a semblance of a drawl( like i was appraising a used car):

"well, aaaaain't that a clunker you've got there..." it took about five minutes for both of us to stop laughing.
