      Herb Power!

I have been reading a lot lately on the often ignored uses of commonly occurring herbs for all sorts of ailments and health-supplements--herbs and plants that have been used for thousands of years and have only recently been written off as "folk-lore" and "fairy tales". Is anyone here knowledgeable on herbology or traditional medicine? I would be most interested in discussing the topic further.

On a sort of side note, I have read that Calea Zacatechichi is used by the Oaxaca indians to aid in lucid dreaming...Has anyone here had experience with it? Furthermore, I have read that mugwort has similar properties--Has anyone had experience with this?

      Hey mongreloctopus!
      Check out the Pharmacy.

I had an adoption that would grow her own herbs.
She put Mug wort in her pillow case. She claimed it worked.
I think the earth seems so efficient that it would almost seem naive to think that there are not a lot of natural substances that would aid us. IMO.

      Heya Mongrel,

I consider myself a bit of a shaman. I dont have the vast knowledge that an herbatologist might have(like the ability to spell) but I might be able to point you in the right direction to find something that your looking for.

As for Calea Zacatechichi, My friends and I have all tried it and have agreed that it has some effect. It didnt really contribute to our LDs but it gave the majority of us strange dreams.

Could you elaborate a bit more on your shamanic knowledge, i.e. from whence it came (did you have some kind of teacher or were you apprenticed in some fashion), interesting shamanic experiences, etc. I am currently reading a series of books written by Carlos Castaneda describing his ten year long apprenticeship to a Yaqui (toltec) "sorcerer" (shaman)..It is all completely fascinating.

A few years ago I was like you. I had found a great interest in the many things that plants, the mind, and the body have to offer. So I went about researching and experimenting, Going through rituals documented by native peoples from around the world, and even absorbing a few of the newer ideals.

if your enjoying Carlos Castaneda then I think you would also enjoy Alberto Villoldo. He spent a lot of time with the Inka's in the amazon that claimed to have the ability to heal disease before it manifested in the physical body.

      FROM ALBERTO:

"You can only find truth if you seek it for yourself, for the truths of history are the truths of others. But truth is like a mirage in the desert. For us, the task is not to chase truth but to create it. Truth is a stance, an act of power that you bring to all your actions. Truth is what the person of knowledge brings to every moment."

So i'm not an officially licensed shaman but I do have some knowledge in the area. So I guess I'm more of a sign post to you in this everyday perceptual reality.
