      Why do you RC?

I had my first LD today out of an RC, which led to the question - why? Why do you only RC sometimes and become lucid, and not others? Have any of you been able to train your mind to the point where pretty much any time something bizarre happens in your dreams, you notice and become lucid?

      Thanks for your time,
      -Jonathan.

That’s a good question JDream, in my opinion training yourself to pick up on the small things in a dream is much better than a RC. Having used RC’s often I also think that they are a good way to induce Lucidity.

I've been dreaming for around 4 months now, and I still am not able to detect the oddities in my dreams. It's pretty frustrating-- my dreamself keeps telling myself that everything is normal, or the curiosity about things never arises.

I'm finding more and more the RCs are simply verification of what I already suspect. That's not always the case, but increasingly often.

The RCs do more for training me during waking hours... keeping me alert to anything unusual, different or changing. Remembering to do RCs while awake keeps me much more in tune with my environment... which quite naturally leads to a similar awareness in dreams.

It's all about learning a new awareness and consciousness. The RCs are merely a tool in that effort.

As I've said before, that's the only way I ever do RCs in my dreams -- if I already am at least partly lucid.

Yeah, so true. I guess it's something to do with memory, distractability or concentration.

I use RC's to verify that I am dreaming. Sometimes it all seems so real and I want to jump out of the window....

I do RCs sometime in real life. When something unusual happens. Maybe I should try doing it more often.

Just remember don't do them just like that. Stop, think about what you are doing, tell yourself: "ok it failed that must mean I am not dreaming, if it worked then this would be a dream"
