Subconsious' voices

For a few months, I've been observing my dreams and I've found that at random points, an excited or confused voice like mine interjects, and at the same time stopping or changing the dream. However, I have a feeling it's not me. The voice isn't the same. Here's some examples. Ex. 1: I was walking down a dirt road with a tiny monster. The voice butts in on the serenity and says "I'm really sad..." The scene changed and it showed the end of the story; basically, what would happen when everything ended. After a few repetitive motifs the story came back (as in a "Meanwhile...") Ex. 2: I was sitting at my desk, facing the room. The voice starts talking about things. "But wait, if this is a dream, then shouldn't I -" I checked my hands and the text "You are in a dream" flashed across the screen. My dream self stood up rapidly, and the room started to spin and blur. "No, no, that's not supposed to happen!" The voice exclaimed as I went into a false awakening. I only have two explanations for this. Either it's my dream-self thinking, or my subconcious' voice shaping the storyline. Do you get a voice like this? Is there any possible explanation?

your subconcious is quite strong and can easily override your dreams. Repeating things or thinking about something over and over can lock it into your subconcious. Take example 2 for instance. You dream you realize you have become lucid and your body tries to wake you up. This could happen after spending some time on this forum and just paying a lot of attention to lucid dreaming. I hope this makes sense, post again if you would like further elabouration chap.

I agree. It's most likely a subconcious thing. In my LD's, actual dream characters seem hell bent on making me loose my lucidity. My subconcious throwing obsticals in my way. Why? Who knows. The last odd thing that happened along those lines is I was trying to self hypnotise to plant a suggestion into my sub concious. When I got the the room which was supposed to represent my subconcious, surprise, surprise, this luminous humanoid was there waiting. It said, "Hello, what can I do for you." I hadn't expected anything to be there but an empty rooom, and was so startled by the being that I snapped out of my 'trance'. I was shaken for about a half hour after after. My subconcious or some other lurking aspect of myself? In my case, lately, there's always something I have to overcome before I can proceed to lucid dream. But once i surpass it it's usually smooth sailing from there. What I wonder is does the subconcious hinder some of us to protect ... or just to be a pain in the butt?

I strongly feel it's the subconscious. Several times I have upset the dream mind by levitating. In a dream, I was navigating a maze of thorny rose vines, it was nice and square, but it also had monsters, and fog, and very little water among other things. It was really a nasty environment, and I ended up levitating out of the top of it, and flying over to the exit about six times in a row. In a stubborn voice, my subconscious growled "NNNNNOOROOAARROOO!!!!!"! Now I am usually good about asking for permission to levitate or jump really high before I actually do. Other times I can sense it staring at me as if to get my attention, you know like that "Dude... ..." look. Then I'll stop what I am doing ask "What do you want? Where should I go?" or something to that nature. One time was when I was lucid and being overly amorous. I went to pull a girl out of the cement and shape her like a T2. Then my SC did as I just described and started singing a song. Just last night it translated for me what the mother leopard was telling her cub. It's been good lately about tipping me off. I was playing football a while ago, and it amplified a conversation between the opposing QB and a receiver. I know which receiver she was going to throw to, I picked it off and ran it back. Also, after a guy wanted to rape me, I fought him off even though he stabbed me twice. I felt My subconscious said "Well, he just moved on to his next victim". I go around the corner to find him raping a college girl. I broke that up too, and soon three photographers were at the window taking pictures of him. Then a sheriff came and the dream ended.

I think of it like this: every dream character, voice, object in your dream is a projection by the brain, right? Well, as we know in dreams the conscious brain is for the most part left out whilst the subconscious overrides it (most of the time) and is the creator. In this way every single thing in your dream is part of you, though maybe extremified or played down. These voices, which are something I have aswell, are as everyone else has said, merely projections of the subconscious.

I also have had experiences with dream characters that try and prevent me becoming lucid in the form of dream 'police' that trap me and carry me down to a basement which is a deeper level of sleep where I can't become lucid .Recently though I had the opposite and a little girl came up to me and said "don't you want to become lucid then?" this was an amazing shock as i had no sense that i was in a dream up to that point , can you imagine what that would be like in real life which is what it seemed to be , I immediately became lucid . What is bizarre to think is that both the dream police and the little girl are aspects of my own unconscious ,there must be aspects of the psyche that fight each other in a struggle to become lucid . BTW I mentioned to a friend who also has LD's that I hadn't seen the dream police for a while . He said they had turned up in his dream after i told him about them and he hadnt had an LD since . He blames me for this but i was glad to get rid of them even if he was the loser by it .

I had a dream once, where when I beacme lucid, I said "This is a good dream" Out loud. In response, a voice in my head said "What?...Dream?..." I said out loud "It's a dream, watch.." I did the nose plug reality check. Then the voice said "Ah, sorry, I didn't realise, go back to what you were doing" Then I suddenly realised I was talking to myself and woke up. That was quite weird.

When I'm very tired and go to sleep I start hearing sounds. It's usually my mom, I try to listen and hear what she says but it doesn't make sense and it cuts off too early. Like: "hey, would you-" "come here-" or things like that. Sometimes I can somehow visualize myself in school. People are shouting my name as if I was asked something and didn't notice it. It's kind of annoying but it's very interesting. I really like it because it's so weird. This goes on for like 5 mins, then I fall asleep.

I must have had issues! I was hating my subcon. then! ************************** sometimes in my dream im confused as to what is going on, so I openly ask a question. well, sometimes, a voice answers. and its told me some funny things. when it tells me things in the dream I go "oohhh..DUH! that makes SOO much sense! I get it!" but then I wake up, and I try to think about what the voice in my dream said and its beyond normal comprehension, or its something only the dreaming mind could get! or the waking mind is just too stupid to understand

Right, I am off to bed now...and I have decided that I will become lucid....I am very drunk and I think it'll work. I'll let you guys know what becomes of it. More to the point, when I became lucid for the first and only time, my obstacle was an assasin tailing me through loads of cities, in a game called Morrowind. He eventually caught up with me, and instead of putting an arrow through me he said "You must complete this game in order to return back to the real world." And so I did, which seemed to me to take weeks, but in reality it was only a few hours. Brilliant stuff. In the end I finally finished the game (Funnily enough, in exactly the same way as I completed the game in real life, it was very frightening) As soon as I completed the game, I woke up straight away. Now that is definately the subconcious taking the mickey.
