      shhhh!!!

Every morning I awake 5 hours after I go to sleep,
and I take a piss, eat some cereal,
      and go back to bed.

      I lay there,
and I can never get to the transitational stages.
      I hear myself blabbing away,
      I replace that with music,
      is that a good idea?

      I hear music,
      and i start counting
but it never ever gets me anywhere.

      Hi Orb,

      hear myself blabbing away, *

is that a good idea? [/b]
You might want to try silencing your mind - think of nothing: no sound, no images, no thoughts. This might sound easy, but very difficult. This will bring you closer to meditative state, which will pull you into sleeping stage. Awake but not aware. Then you start pulling down your awakeness level while keeping your awareness level.

No one said this was easy, but once you learn how it feels, you'll start to get it and you'll be able to do it more often.

      Silence?

      I don't think I am capable of that . .

I can always always hear something going on in my head -

I will try, though- very hard.

Yep, it is difficult. But what I do is imagine what it would be like if I was underwater. Sometimes that helps. Or try to focus yourself on just ONE consistent sound, like a gentle humming sound.

It's much easier if you're extremely tired and you do it unintentionally.
Usually, i experience the weirdest stuff on school mornings.
I wake up and get ready for school, but at the same time, i'm extremely tired from the lack of sleep.
I then decide to just lie down for a bit before i am off for school-
Since i have school, i try to stay awake, but i end up experiencing weird stuff-
      like floating around,
      a feeling of seperation,
      and some other stuff
Yah, i think the purpose of waking up 4 hours earlier is so that you get that *i really need to go back to sleep* feeling
but if you do have that feeling, then i dont know
Why are apple jacks called apple jacks?
Dude, those aren't apple jacks, they're batteries.

That would be really stupid to "try and think of nothing" the truth is, without a whole lot of meditative practice that's pretty much totally impossible

what you should do when WILDing:

focus on your breathing, repeat to yourself "breathe in, breathe out, 1. breathe in, breathe out, 2." and so on, do this until you get to about 50 then just drop the "breathe in, breathe out" and just say the numbers every time you breathe in and out so it would go "*breathes in and then out* one. *breathes in and then out* two" and so on. eventually you'll get to where your able to just focus on the sound of your breath entering and leaving your mouth/ nose. that's about as close as anyone that doesn't meditate twice daily is going to get to total nothing thoughts though.

I just let my mind go off and let it have thoughts. Usually I'll think about something myself, like what I'd like to become, or a past memory. That enables me to get really relaxed and enter these stages, it's just that I usually recognize the cut-off point (if I am concious enough I will notice a falling into my body feeling which is my body telling me I've entered SP). It works for me because once I feel that, all thoughts just cease without me making any effort to stop them, and it goes black, but I'm still there, aware that I am in SP.
