woundering how we fall a sleep?

If you really want to read this topic and still want a good nights sleep, i advice you not to read it.
Has any one woundered how we fall a sleep and found it strange how your brain does it.
Once when i was praying(im a christian) i woke up and instantly started praying without knowing i fell a sleep and only looking at the time i then saw i fell a sleep.
Even if i knew the answear i am still complexed on how your brain does it (well of course the answear is basicaly what happens in a WILD but your not con).
It some times keeps me awake at night. Plus i thought i blinked once but acturly i was sleeping but it seemed that i just blinked.
Even more plus is that you don't fully remeber that when you were thinking about it before you went to bed it you wake up only a ware of half the things you were thinking about before falling a sleep.
Im not afraid of the dark, its whats in it.
*the lights turn off and the whole room goes dark*
Oh im fin- Ahhhhhhhh its a scary figment of my imagination.

To tell you the truth (but not to be rude)...I don't think I've ever read a more confusingly worded paragraph in my life.

Falling asleep is accompanied by mental processes going independant of one's will. If I understood what you noted well enough I presume you are referring to hypnagogia (specifically different types of hypnagogic hallucinations and hypnic jerks)?

Also can some one tell me if my wording is bad in this one too.

      Can people help me

Ok can people point out on what they can't understand.
I can see it very cleary becasue i wrote it but can people please tell me whats wrong.

Ok the whole matter of it is; Have you ever thought that when your closeing your eyes and wait for your mind to slip into your sub-consciousness and fall a sleep. Havn't you ever thought how your brain makes you fall a sleep.
I think this is a better way: How can you lose consciousness even though your thinking of things before you fall a sleep?

      OR

Before you fall a sleep how does your brain make you lose consciousness?

Is this a better question for people to understand.

Bearing in mind i am quite sleepy at the moment so i'm not thinking straight.

*This is how I interpret it*

If you want a good night's sleep, I would advise you not to read it this topic.

Have you ever wondered just how we fall asleep, how you brain "does it" (makes you fall asleep, presumably)?

Once, while I was sleeping, I woke up and instantly started praying without realizing that I was in fact asleep. It was only after I checked the time that I realized I was sleeping.

Even if I knew the answer, I am still perplexed by just how the brain does it (of course, the answer would basically be *that which happens in a WILD*, but you're not conscious).

This question occasionally keeps me up at night. Once, I thought I had blinked while awake; I was in fact sleeping, but it seemed that I had just blinked [no, I see no point to that either].

Even stranger is the fact that when one wakes up in the morning, one only remembers half the things one was thinking about before one fell asleep.

All I can say is to read up on sleep. Maybe the wiki page or something, I know I just read a few pages here and there about sleep and got most my questions answered, including the ones you are now asking.
      Knowledge is power.

Thank you _omin_ you have put that even better then i could.
Any way i think i might have an answer its just that im still festinated how your mind does it.
Haven't you ever wondered why your brain does that or this and how it does. Im sure you've asked yourslef a question like "why do we laugh" or "Why we get stressed", well something along the lines(im sure you've at least have thought of the question "why do i love women/men so much", or at least now, or "Why do we dream?").
I think im going into some sort of stage in life which i'm festinated in something and i just can't help thinking about it.
Still don't you find it strange how some chemiclas can make you go into pubety or how our mind sends signals from there to here by simply using chemicals. Its all very intresting to me, think about how a big lump of water (your brain is acturly filled with water) can make us do stuff like make us think or how is it that we can type and think at the same time.
I know all of these answers but it still fesntiates me and how we do it.
Still i'm just wondering if any one else has thought about this or the question oh how we just fall a sleep without knowing and only waking up then knowing you went to sleep.

You don't lose consciousness. You slip into sleep onset with hypnagogia (the thoughts you think of going independant of your will) and then go into different stages of sleep and REM sleep with dreams.

A good book for you to read would be Stephen LaBerge's "Exploring The World of Lucid Dreaming". It explains much about dreaming as a whole and slowly but surely leads into all the most efficient techniques for inducing lucid dreams. The most informative book on dreaming I've read to date.
