Lucid dreams during day? (not daydreaming)

Lately I've been falling asleep during day because I couldn't really sleep at night (because of exams maybe...). I actually slept for like about four hours a day (ehm I mean night this time) and I still had 3-4 dreams a night + lucid dreams.

But what was even more wierd than this was that I actually dreamed also during day? I don't know for how long I slept it was usually something about hour and a half. but I also got loads of dreams.

Usually when I sleep during day I black out or I don't remember anything...just being so exhausted during the sleep.

Yesterday, I went to sleep about 4:30pm and woke up in a dream. I was a on a way somewhere with my friends and ...[blabla....took quite long time] and then it seemed we would crash into a tree and that's when I realized...man this can't be real (actually my thought was more...like "I can't die, not now...")..and I started to think with whom I am in the car. It was Marty and Molik. ..it wasn't that logic...so I just "forgot" this dream and continued with my own dream with Molik and Marty in it.
Later I fell again "asleep" and "woke up" again in my bed, thinking about a lot of things...but eventually I found out that I woke up once more to a dream (which was same as reality, except that I hadn't my cell phone with me - I'm checking time on it whenever I wake up).
Finally I woke up aroun 5:40pm and I was quite happy I was awake.

Tell me is this possible? It's like two LDs in a short period, during the day?
      It never happened to me before..so I'm like o_O I don't understand.

I also went to ask my mother if I was really a sleep (and I was). It was really confusing.
I also had a LD this night but it wasn't that vivid and scary as the one during the day (the first one).

Lucid dreams are actually much more common during naps than they are on a usual sleep cycle at night.
      I can because I know I can.

why is this? Are we not starting from a bad spot in the REM cycle for this to be true? Then why is it hard to lucid when we first fall asleep at night?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I still don't know

Of course you can have lucid dreams during the day. I have the large majority of my LDs when I nap during the day. Also, if you aren't getting much sleep at night then your body makes up for the lost REM time the next time you sleep, whether it's during the night or day.

Im wondering why this is too!!

a lot of times when I'm napping I get lost in the daydream and the next thing I know I'm in it! Its like a semi baby WILD. but this never never happens during regular sleep.

hey STung, I wouldn't worry about anything if I were you. why not have some adventures before dinner? and aren't exams..over??

It's because of your inner clock and sleep cycles. If you go to bed after 14-16 hours or so, it will be about night and your subconscious will start the night-sleep program. This program goes right into the deepest stages of sleep without much REM for the first few hours.
With naps you just rock right into long REM, but it won't be more than 1-1,5 hours for most people because after that time you will be thorougly refreshed (the dreams actually make you refreshed and active, while the deep sleep stages recover your body; that's why sleeping only 3-5 hours or so per night will leave you fatigued - no dreams = no refreshment)

Korittke: thank you for the information. I didn't know that. Well, I mean I didn't know that while sleeping during day I would go directly to REM sleep.

Juroara: yes, the exams are gone^_~. Well, it was wierd for me to experience this as it never happened to me before. I usually LD during night.

Actually lately I've had so many dreams during night and day that it all seems to be so unnatural. It's not normal, because when I'm stressed and I don't sleep much I usually get just some pretty random chaotic dreams. But this time all my dreams were clear and pretty vivid, real....

Thank you for comments everyone. I feel better now. ^_^
