I often have dreams where I become extremely thirsty, and when I try to drink some water to quench my thirst, it's like nothing is going into my mouth, and I end up more thirsty than I was before
Hi Krista,

Yep, that's a common thing that happens to lots of people. It's the same concept as having to go to the bathroom in your dreams, then relieving yourself (in the dream) only feel like you have to go again.

What's happening is that your brain is receiving the signal from your body "Hey, I'm thirsty" or "Dude, it's time to take a piss". Then it's bringing that external stimulus into your dream. You drink (or pee) in your dream - which makes you THINK you're taking care of the issue at hand, but in reality you're still lying there with either a thirsty belly or filled up bladder.

This is a very common recurring theme in my dreams...and it really bothers me.[/b]
You just described a perfectly good dreamsign! As Burns pointed out, you could do reality checks whenever it is that you drink in waking life OR simply try to train your mind and keep enforcing the fact that THIRST = DREAM. Eventually this thought (induced) will carry into your dream and you will make the correlation and become lucid!
